Master the Way card art

Master the Way

Sorcery MV 5

Tracked across real Commander games played through TurnZero HQ.

What it does

Draw a card. Master the Way deals damage to any target equal to the number of cards in your hand.

Rulings

2 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.

  • 2014-09-20

Use the number of cards in your hand after you draw the card to determine how much damage Master the Way deals to the target permanent or player. (Remember that Master the Way is not in your hand; it’s on the stack.)

  • 2014-09-20

If the permanent or player is an illegal target as Master the Way tries to resolve, Master the Way won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen. You won’t draw a card.

Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Every version of Master the Way

1 printing, newest first. Prices are the market figures Scryfall publishes, refreshed nightly. A printing with no figure shows a dash rather than a zero, because Scryfall publishes none for some of them.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Master the Way. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.

Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
