What it does
If an opponent cast three or more spells this turn, you may pay 0 rather than pay this spell's mana cost.
Exile any number of target spells.
Rulings
3 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.
- 2025-09-19
Mindbreak Trap's alternative cost condition checks whether an opponent cast three or more spells this turn, not whether those spells have resolved.
- 2025-09-19
If a spell is exiled, it's removed from the stack and thus will not resolve. The spell isn't countered; it just no longer exists. This works on spells that can't be countered.
- 2025-09-19
For Mindbreak Trap's alternative cost to apply, a single opponent must cast three or more spells. Three opponents each casting a single spell won't work, for example.
Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Mindbreak Trap — a name search across every version, for the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.
Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only — no individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
