As the commander, it is hard to remove at six mana: ward {2} taxes targeted removal, vigilance lets it attack and still block, and lifelink triggers its own Lotus. The cost is the cost itself, since a six-drop commander gets expensive to recast. The deck wants cheap life gain early so the Lotus tokens ramp it toward Kwia and past it.
In another green-white deck it's a strong top-end creature, especially in life gain and counters decks. In a deck with no other life gain, it still makes a Lotus each turn it deals damage.
Soul Warden ↗
Gains 1 life whenever another creature enters, on any player's turn, which is a Lotus trigger almost every turn.
Archangel of Thune ↗
A lifelink flier that puts a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control whenever you gain life.
Ajani's Pridemate ↗
A two-drop that grows each time you gain life, so it gets bigger alongside your Lotus tokens.
Aetherflux Reservoir ↗
Gains life on each spell you cast, and the Lotus mana helps you cast more spells in one turn.
Kwia is a mythic from the Reality Fracture main set, released October 2, 2026, and early prices are still settling with no reprints yet. Early listings put it at the top of the five Elder Sphinxes on price, so buy it for a deck you plan to build rather than on spec.
Yes. The ability triggers once each turn, not once each of your turns, so gaining life on an opponent's turn makes a Lotus too. In a four-player game that's up to four Lotus tokens per round.
It's a colorless artifact token with "{T}, Sacrifice this token: Add three mana of any one color." It's a one-shot burst of mana, and you can save several to cast a big spell later.
Yes. When it deals damage, you gain that much life, which triggers the Lotus ability if you haven't already gained life that turn.
