Ingris Stingerquill ↗

A three-mana 1/4 flying Elder Sphinx. Whenever a creature you control attacks, that creature deals 1 damage to each opponent, and {4} makes a 2/2 Cadet token and gives your creatures haste until end of turn.

Strategies it goes well with

  • Go wide with small tokens. The trigger counts attackers, not power, so a 1/1 token is worth as much as a dragon. Bitterblossom and Hordeling Outburst give you several attackers for little mana.
  • Attack-trigger stacking. Hellrider and Raid Bombardment also deal damage when your creatures attack. With Ingris, each attacker deals damage from more than one trigger before combat damage.
  • Mana sink for haste. Later in the game, spare mana goes into her {4} ability. Each activation is another body that can attack that turn because of the haste.

How it does in Commander

As the commander

As the commander, she is cheap enough to cast on turn three and gives a black-red token deck damage the table can't block. A 1/4 body survives most early combat and blocks well, but she doesn't attack well herself. The deck needs creatures to attack with, and a board wipe sets the plan back until you rebuild.

In the 99

In another black-red deck she's a strong three-drop for any go-wide or aggro plan. In a deck with only a few big creatures, the trigger adds little and she's a 1/4 flier.

Formats it's strong in

  • Black-red token and aggro decks. Every extra attacker is another point of damage to each opponent, so wide boards end multiplayer games faster.
  • Brawl and Standard Brawl. She's a main-set card and legal in Standard, so she can lead a Brawl deck for three mana.

Formats it's weak in

  • Decks with a few large creatures. The trigger is the same 1 damage per attacker regardless of size, so three big creatures get less from her than ten tokens.
  • Tables with many board wipes. Her plan depends on a wide board. Repeated wipes leave her as a 1/4 that makes one Cadet for four mana.

Is it worth the price?

Ingris is a mythic from the Reality Fracture main set, released October 2, 2026. Early prices are still settling and she has not been reprinted. Early listings put her among the pricier cards in the Elder Sphinx cycle, though still short of expensive.

Frequently asked questions

How much damage does Ingris Stingerquill deal?

Each attacking creature you control deals 1 damage to each opponent when it attacks. In a four-player game, attacking with five creatures deals 15 damage across the table before blockers are declared.

Does the damage from Ingris Stingerquill count as combat damage?

No. It is dealt by the attack trigger, not in the combat damage step, so blocking the creature does not stop it. It also does not count toward commander damage.

What does Ingris Stingerquill's {4} ability do?

It creates a 2/2 colorless Wizard Soldier token named Cadet, then gives every creature you control haste until end of turn. Activate it in your first main phase and the new Cadet can attack the same turn, which adds another damage to each opponent.
