What it does
Sacrifice a creature. When you do, all creatures get -X/-X until end of turn, where X is the sacrificed creature's toughness.
Rulings
2 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.
- 2025-04-04
You don’t choose which creature to sacrifice until Tip the Scales resolves. You must sacrifice exactly one creature if you control one at that time. Doing so causes a “reflexive” ability to trigger. Players may respond to that ability knowing the value of X.
- 2025-04-04
Use the sacrificed creature’s toughness as it last existed on the battlefield to determine the value of X.
Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Tip the Scales. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.
Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
