What it does
Flying
Whenever you gain life for the first time each turn, surveil 1. (Look at the top card of your library. You may put it into your graveyard.)
Rulings
2 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.
- 2024-11-08
If you gain life during a turn before Vanguard Seraph is on the battlefield, its last ability won't trigger that turn even if you gain life again later in the turn.
- 2024-11-08
Vanguard Seraph's last ability triggers just once for your first life-gaining event on each turn, no matter how much life you gain.
Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Vanguard Seraph. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.
Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
