What it does
Whenever a creature deals combat damage to one of your opponents, its controller may pay 1 life. If they do, they draw a card.
4, Discard X cards: Exile the top X cards of target opponent's library. You may play lands and cast spells from among cards exiled this way without paying their mana costs.
Rulings
3 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.
- 2022-10-14
You must play the cards as you resolve the last ability. You can't wait and play them later.
- 2022-10-14
If a spell you cast this way has an X in its mana cost, you must choose 0 for X.
- 2022-10-14
You may play a land this way only during your own turn and only if you have not yet played a land this turn.
Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.
Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
