What it does

Whenever you cast your first spell during each opponent's turn, draw a card.

Rulings

4 official rulings, in the order Wizards published them.

  • 2020-01-24

An ability that triggers when you cast a spell resolves before the spell that caused it to trigger. It resolves even if that spell is countered.

  • 2020-01-24

This ability triggers only on your very first spell during an opponent's turn, not the first spell after the card is on the battlefield. If you cast a spell before it's on the battlefield (including if you cast this card somehow during an opponent's turn), the ability won't trigger.

  • 2020-01-24

In a Two-Headed Giant game, this ability triggers no more than once during each opposing team's turn.

  • 2020-01-24

If you have more than one opponent, this ability can trigger once during each of those opponents' turns.

Rulings are Wizards of the Coast's own, mirrored from Scryfall and refreshed nightly.

Every version of Wavebreak Hippocamp

6 printings, newest first. Prices are the market figures Scryfall publishes, refreshed nightly. A printing with no figure shows a dash rather than a zero, because Scryfall publishes none for some of them. Click a card's art to chart that version's price above.

Prices from Scryfall, which tracks the TCGplayer and Cardmarket markets. They move daily and are a guide rather than a quote. Search TCGplayer for Wavebreak Hippocamp. It runs a name search across every version, which covers the printings TCGplayer publishes no direct link to.

Aggregated from Commander games tracked in TurnZero HQ. Every figure counts decks and games only. No individual deck list, player or playgroup is identified. Win rates are withheld below 5 completed games, where the sample is too small to mean anything.
