The core set, Modern-legal
Ninth Edition is the ninth core set and the second in the modern frame. It has 350 numbered cards, and the catalog lists premium foils and a few extra cards from its starter product alongside them. Compared with Eighth Edition it brought in 165 cards and dropped 163.
As a Modern-legal core set it is where several older cards gained Modern legality. Fellwar Stone, the Apocalypse painlands, Phyrexian Arena, Rampant Growth and Llanowar Elves are among the cards Commander players most often own from it.
Modern bans Seething Song and Summer Bloom from it. Nothing is banned in Legacy, Vintage or Commander.
Where You Can Play It
Ninth Edition is a single code and Modern-legal.
Not Standard-legal, and never Pioneer-legal: Pioneer starts at Return to Ravnica (October 2012). Everything here is legal in Modern, Legacy, Vintage and Commander unless a ban list says otherwise. Modern bans Seething Song and Summer Bloom. Commons from any set are Pauper-legal; that isn't listed per set here.
Boosters, precons and singles from Ninth Edition are on TCGplayer.
