Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance: Empty Handed

Every discard at the table costs your opponents life. A 100-card black Commander deck built from singles, $27.02 for every card.

Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance card

Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance makes each opponent discard a card when it enters. After that, whenever any player discards one or more cards, it deals 1 damage to each opponent. Any player means you too, and it means an opponent discarding down to seven at the end of their own turn.

So the deck makes the whole table discard, all game. Burglar Rat, Liliana's Specter and Unnerve take cards one or two at a time, while Delirium Skeins, Rankle's Prank, Mindslicer, Rotting Rats and Dark Deal hit every hand at the table at once, and Painful Quandary makes every spell an opponent casts cost them a card or 5 life. Megrim, Raiders' Wake and Fell Specter turn each card an opponent discards into lost life, Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage punishes whoever is left with an empty hand, and Zombie Infestation, Skirge Familiar and the cycling cards keep Tinybones firing on turns nobody else plays along.

One rule worth knowing: cycling is discarding, so cycling Barren Moor or Decree of Pain triggers Tinybones. The other half people miss is the wording "one or more." A player who discards three cards at once triggers Tinybones once, not three times. When several players discard at the same time, as with Delirium Skeins, Tinybones triggers once for each player who discards, you included, and a player with an empty hand adds no trigger. Counting every card is the job of Megrim and Raiders' Wake, which trigger for each card an opponent discards.

The first upgrades, once you want to spend more: Waste Not, Liliana's Caress and Bottomless Pit all do what Megrim and Raiders' Wake do, but any one of them would use up most of the room left under the cap.
