Is It Worth It?

The Facts

This is the Halloween superdrop. Three drops retell Jim Henson's Labyrinth, one is a KPop Demon Hunters collaboration, one puts Marvel heroes into zombie art, and the other three have no licensor: a Veronique Meignaud artist series, five artifact lands from See Machine, and a Treefolk drop. Every card is a reprint, so nothing here changes what a deck that already runs the original can do.

One date in the announcement doesn't match the others. Wizards gives the launch as October 12 twice and says "before the sale begins on October 14" once, in its checklist. The pre-queue opens an hour before the sale at 8 a.m. PT either way, so check the store the week before.

The Eight Drops

Prices under each card are the cheapest existing non-foil and foil printings, checked September 30, 2026. "First foil" or "first non-foil" means this Secret Lair is the first time the card has been printed in that finish.

Labyrinth: Fear Me, Love Me

The Goblin King's drop, and most of a Goblin deck. Muxus, Goblin Grandee is a six-mana commander that reveals the top six cards when it enters and puts every Goblin creature card with mana value 5 or less from among them onto the battlefield. Goblin Rabblemaster makes a hasty 1/1 Goblin every turn, Boggart Shenanigans turns each Goblin that dies into a point of damage, and Claim the Firstborn steals a small creature for a turn, which is best when you have a way to sacrifice it afterward.

Trinisphere is the odd one out, and the most valuable card here as a non-foil. While it's untapped, every spell that would cost less than three mana costs three. That hurts decks full of cheap interaction and mana rocks, which is why it shows up in high-power Commander. At a casual table it mostly slows everyone down, you included. Treat it as a card to talk about before the game, not one to surprise people with.

Labyrinth: Should You Need Us

Six legendary creatures, all six able to lead a deck, printed as Sarah and the characters she meets in the maze. Wort, Boggart Auntie as Hoggle is the story. It has been printed once before, in Lorwyn in 2007. That makes it $29.30 as a non-foil and $206.50 as a foil, and this is its first reprint in either finish. In play, it's a Rakdos Goblin commander with fear that returns a Goblin card from your graveyard to your hand each upkeep.

Kami of the Crescent Moon as the Worm makes every player draw an extra card each turn, which suits group-hug and wheel decks. Jodah, the Unifier leads five-color legends decks. Kogla, the Titan Ape fights on entry and breaks an artifact or enchantment every time it attacks. Shigeki, Jukai Visionary is a two-mana ramp creature for lands decks. Lu Xun, Scholar General is the reversible card, printed as Sir Didymus with a different name and art on each side: Rider of Ambrosius and Faithful Companion. It's a $0.30 card from Portal Three Kingdoms, and this is the first paper foil it has had.

Labyrinth: Through the Labyrinth

Seven cards named after scenes from the film, and the drop where the flavor names are most fun: Leveler as the Cleaners, Rogue's Passage as the Shaft of Hands, Thran Temporal Gateway as the Doors of Indecision. The best card is Delayed Blast Fireball . Cast normally it deals 2 damage to each opponent and each creature they control. Foretold and cast from exile, it deals 5, which makes it a one-sided board wipe for six mana on a later turn.

Tempt with Discovery and Timely Ward are both useful Commander cards. Timely Ward can be cast at instant speed if it targets a commander, and it gives that creature indestructible. Leveler exiles your whole library when it enters, so outside a deck built to win that way, it's here for the art. Two of the seven, Delayed Blast Fireball and Timely Ward, have never been printed in foil before.

KPop Demon Hunters: How It's Done

No renames, and the most playable drop in the superdrop. Swan Song is a one-mana counter for enchantments, instants and sorceries that many blue Commander decks play. Underworld Breach gives every nonland card in your graveyard escape for a turn, and it's one of the main combo engines in high-power Commander. Demonic Counsel is a two-mana tutor for any card once four card types are in your graveyard, and Freed from the Real makes infinite mana on a creature that taps for two or more mana including blue.

The white cards protect your board. Dawn's Truce gives you and your permanents hexproof, plus indestructible if you give an opponent a card, and Unbreakable Formation makes your creatures indestructible. Tempt with Immortality returns a creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield, plus one more for each opponent who takes the offer. This is its first foil printing.

Marvel: Zombies

Avengers as the undead, and four legendary creatures that can each lead a Zombie deck. Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver as Zombie Captain America is the best of them in Commander, and at $9.20 it's also the most valuable card here as a non-foil. Varina, Lich Queen as Zombie Scarlet Witch is the three-color option. Both want a pile of Zombies, and Zombie Apocalypse returns every Zombie creature card from your graveyard, then destroys all Humans.

Vogar, Necropolis Tyrant as Zombie Giant-Man has only been printed in foil before, in a 2022 Game Night box, so this drop is its first non-foil printing. That leaves it out of the non-foil total below, which undersells this drop's non-foil box by one card. Unstoppable Slasher is the other card worth noting. It has deathtouch, and when it deals combat damage to a player, that player loses half their life, rounded up.

Artist Series: Veronique Meignaud

Four black cards in Meignaud's painted gothic style, and a small sacrifice package. Ashnod's Altar turns a creature into two colorless mana, Bloodsoaked Champion keeps coming back to be sacrificed again, and Voldaren Pariah transforms when you sacrifice three other creatures, making a target opponent sacrifice three of theirs. Cabal Stronghold is a land for mono-black decks with lots of basic Swamps.

The Altar and the Stronghold are $25.18 of the drop's $25.96 non-foil total. The two creatures are cards you can buy for under 50 cents each.

Manufactured Grounds by See Machine

The five original Mirrodin artifact lands, one of each color. Each taps for one color of mana and is also an artifact, so they're good in artifact decks and a small risk anywhere else, since artifact removal now hits your lands. They're cheap to buy in non-foil, which is why this is the weakest non-foil drop in the line at $10.22.

Foil is different, because the cheapest foils are old or scarce. Seat of the Synod 's is a 2003 Mirrodin foil at $45.17, and Ancient Den's and Tree of Tales's are earlier Secret Lair foils at $18.21 and $15.01. The five come to $97.77 in foil, more than twice the $39.99 price.

Peace, Love, & Treefolk

Five Lorwyn-era Treefolk, and the best-balanced drop in the superdrop. Doran, the Siege Tower is the commander: in Abzan colors, it makes every creature assign combat damage equal to its toughness, which turns walls and trees into attackers. Timber Protector gives your other Treefolk +1/+1 and makes your other Treefolk and your Forests indestructible. Treefolk Harbinger puts a Treefolk or Forest on top of your library, and Leaf-Crowned Elder can cast a Treefolk off the top for free each upkeep.

At $49.86, it's the best non-foil drop in the line, and no single card carries it: Timber Protector is the biggest at $22.98, and every other card is over $4.

The Flavor Names Are Flavor Names

23 of the 46 cards are printed with a different name across the top: all 19 cards in the three Labyrinth drops, plus four in Marvel: Zombies. Magic calls that a flavor name. The card that says Hoggle, Heart in Conflict is Wort, Boggart Auntie . It has the same rules text, and every rule and deckbuilding restriction reads the name Wort.

What the Cards Are Actually Worth

Each drop costs $29.99 non-foil or $39.99 foil. This table shows what the same cards cost as the cheapest existing printing, which tells you whether a box is cheaper than buying the singles:

Every figure is the cheapest existing printing of the card, checked September 30, 2026, leaving out the new Secret Lair printings, which have no market yet. That is replacement cost: what you would pay to own these cards another way. It is not what you could sell this superdrop's copies for, which is covered below. Five cards have never had a foil printing, so in the foil column they're priced at their cheapest non-foil: Delayed Blast Fireball, Timely Ward, Tempt with Immortality, Dance with Calamity and Lu Xun, Scholar General. Vogar has never had a non-foil printing, so it's left out of the non-foil column.

Foil: clearly ahead

Seven of the eight foil drops clear $39.99. All 46 cards in foil come to $835.55, 2.6 times the $319.92 that eight foil boxes cost. The top three cards are Wort at $206.50, Muxus at $132.65 and Swan Song at $59.94. Together they're $399.09, or 48% of the total, and without them the other 43 cards still come to $436.46, more than the boxes cost. Ten foil cards are under $2 and add $10.26 between them.

If you sold the foils yourself, a fair estimate is about $701, after about 15% for fees and shipping, and counting cards under $2 as worth nothing. That figure assumes the new copies sell like the old ones, which is not guaranteed.

Non-foil: close to break-even

Four of the eight non-foil drops clear $29.99, and Through the Labyrinth misses by 70 cents. All eight come to $258.67 against $239.92, which is 1.08 times the price. The top three are Trinisphere at $34.41, Wort at $29.30 and Timber Protector at $22.98: $86.69, or 34%, leaving $171.98 for the rest. Eighteen non-foil cards are under $2 and add $13.71.

Selling them yourself works out to an estimated $208.22 on the same assumptions: about 15% for fees and shipping, cards under $2 counted as nothing. That is less than the $239.92 the eight non-foil boxes cost. In non-foil, buy the drops you want to play or look at, not the line as an investment.

What could move these numbers

The foil case leans on old, scarce printings. Wort's $206.50 foil is the only one printed before this, in 2007. Muxus's $132.65 is a 2023 Secret Lair foil, the only earlier foil Muxus. Seat of the Synod's cheapest foil is from 2003. Each of those cards is about to get a new foil printing with new art and a flavor name, and Secret Lair prints to demand during its sale window rather than to a fixed run, so supply will follow demand. The prices above are what those cards cost today, not a forecast of where they settle.

This superdrop is worth judging one drop at a time. In foil, Fear Me, Love Me and Should You Need Us are each worth several times their price on today's numbers, KPop Demon Hunters is the drop you'll play the most cards from, and Manufactured Grounds is the rare case of a lands drop that clears easily. In non-foil, Peace, Love, & Treefolk and Fear Me, Love Me are the two to pick. The rest are for people who want the art.

Once the sale window closes, the cards exist only secondhand. Prices there move, and the figures above are for earlier printings rather than the Secret Lair versions.
