Marvel: Darkhold Destiny
Wizards revealed the April slot at New York Comic Con on October 9, 2026. It is an original story Wizards wrote with Marvel: Doctor Strange, Thor and Ghost Rider against Hela and Dormammu. Prerelease events run April 2 to 8, and the set releases April 9, 2027.
It has four Commander decks: Lords of Hel (Hela), Midnight Sons (Blade), Gods of Asgard (Thor), Strange Academy (Doctor Strange). Two of its cards are already out: Doctor Strange, Master of Magic and Beta Ray Bill came early in the Marvel History of Heroes Countdown Kit.
Universes Beyond
The two sets nobody has names for yet
Two more Universes Beyond crossovers land on August 6 and November 19, 2027. Wizards has confirmed the dates and nothing else: no partner IPs, no product details. Anything you read naming those properties today is speculation.

How many Magic sets are releasing in 2027?
Six tentpole sets. Three are in-universe "Magic Multiverse" sets (Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, and Zhalfir) and three are Universes Beyond releases. The April one is Marvel: Darkhold Destiny; the August and November partners have not been revealed.
What are the MTG 2027 set release dates?

Marvel: Darkhold Destiny was then revealed at New York Comic Con on October 9, 2026, alongside exact dates for the other two Universes Beyond slots.

Are there spoilers for the 2027 Magic sets?
Marvel: Darkhold Destiny is the only 2027 set with cards out: Doctor Strange, Master of Magic and Beta Ray Bill came early in the Marvel History of Heroes Countdown Kit. Nothing has been spoiled from the in-universe sets. The one mechanical detail public for them is that Nauctis replaces the flying keyword with a new evasion mechanic.
Will the 2027 sets have Commander decks?
Yes. Marvel: Darkhold Destiny has four Commander decks: Lords of Hel (Hela), Midnight Sons (Blade), Gods of Asgard (Thor) and Strange Academy (Doctor Strange). All three in-universe sets ship with Commander decks too, but their counts, themes and face commanders are unannounced.
