Wizards used the preview panel at MagicCon Amsterdam to lay out all of 2027 at once: six tentpole sets, three of them named. Here are the confirmed release dates, what each set is about, and exactly how much is still unannounced.

Universes Beyond

The three sets nobody has names for yet

Half of 2027's tentpole releases are Universes Beyond crossovers landing in April, August, and November. Wizards confirmed the slots and nothing else — no partner IPs, no exact dates, no product details. Anything you read naming those properties today is speculation.

MTG 2027 sets: common questions

How many Magic sets are releasing in 2027?

Six tentpole sets. Three are in-universe "Magic Multiverse" sets — Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, and Zhalfir — and three are Universes Beyond releases slotted for April, August, and November. The Universes Beyond partners have not been revealed.

What are the MTG 2027 set release dates?

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm releases February 5, 2027. Kamigawa: Titanbreach releases June 4, 2027. Zhalfir releases October 1, 2027. The three Universes Beyond sets have month-level slots (April, August, and November 2027) but no confirmed dates.

When were the 2027 Magic sets announced?

At the MagicCon Amsterdam 2026 preview panel in July 2026. Wizards named the three in-universe sets with premises and firm release dates, and gave the three Universes Beyond sets release slots without naming the partner IPs.

What are the three Universes Beyond sets for 2027?

They have not been announced. Wizards confirmed three Universes Beyond releases in April, August, and November 2027 but did not reveal which properties they cover or their exact dates.

Are there spoilers for the 2027 Magic sets?

No cards have been spoiled for any 2027 set. Only one mechanical detail is public across all three in-universe sets: Nauctis replaces the flying keyword with a new evasion mechanic. Set codes have not been assigned, so none of the sets appear on Scryfall yet.

Will the 2027 sets have Commander decks?

Yes. All three in-universe sets ship with dedicated Commander decks. Deck counts, themes, and face commanders are unannounced — four decks per set has been the recent pattern.
