The second sun rises
Hour of Devastation ends the Amonkhet block with Nicol Bolas's return. The second sun reaches the horizon, the Gods fall, and the Gatewatch is defeated. Three new Gods, The Scarab God, The Locust God and The Scorpion God, rise from the plane's sands.
Its new mechanics are eternalize, a larger version of embalm that makes a 4/4 black Zombie token copy, and afflict, which makes the defending player lose life when the creature is blocked. Deserts, a new land type, are also a theme.
