What this set is

Commander 2013 is the second annual Commander release, two years after the first. Where Commander 2011 used the five wedge color combinations, this year's five decks use the five allied three-color shards: Bant, Esper, Grixis, Jund and Naya.

Tempting offer is its new mechanic, another way to make the whole table part of your spell. Each opponent may accept the offer and get the effect too, and you get it again for each opponent who does.

The set gave Commander Toxic Deluge and a run of popular commanders. Derevi, Oloro, Prossh and Nekusar were all new here, and several decks shipped with more than one legend to choose from.

Tempting offer

You get the effect, then each opponent may get it too. For each opponent who accepts, you get it again. In a four-player game that is up to four times for you and once for each opponent who takes it.

Where You Can Play It

Format legality

Commander 2013 shipped as five precon decks under a single code. Its new cards were never in a Standard-legal set, so they are legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage. Reprints keep their own legality.

Never Standard-, Pioneer- or Modern-legal for its new cards, so no rotation has touched it. Sol Ring, reprinted in every deck, is banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage. Commons from any set are Pauper-legal; that isn't listed per set here.
