Planeswalkers lead the decks

What this set is

Commander 2014 is the third annual Commander release and the first time planeswalkers led Commander decks. Each of its five decks is mono-colored, and each face commander is a planeswalker printed with "can be your commander", an exception to the usual rule that a commander must be a legendary creature.

Lieutenant is its new mechanic: a bonus that applies as long as you control your commander. Myriad Landscape and Commander's Sphere first appeared here, and Titania, Protector of Argoth, Feldon of the Third Path and Ghoulcaller Gisa are new legends that became popular commanders in their own right.

Themes

Every mechanic in Commander 2014

New

Planeswalker commanders

Five planeswalkers say "can be your commander" on the card, the first time the rule had an exception printed on a card. Commander damage still only counts from a commander that is a creature dealing combat damage.

New

Lieutenant

An ability word: the bonus applies as long as you control your commander. A deck that keeps its commander on the battlefield gets much stronger creatures.

Where You Can Play It
