Magic's science fiction set

What this set is

Edge of Eternities is Magic's science fiction set, and it introduced enough durable design that later sets keep borrowing from it — Star Trek brings Spacecraft and Station straight back a year later.

The clever part is that none of the mechanics demand a dedicated deck. Warp cards help you cast two spells in a turn or free up mana to Station something, Landers ramp and count as artifacts, and Void just asks that something left the battlefield. They support archetypes rather than defining them.

Themes

Every mechanic in Edge of Eternities

New

Spacecraft

A new artifact type, and a twist on Vehicles: instead of being crewed each turn, a Spacecraft is stationed — and it won't necessarily become a creature at all. A Legendary Spacecraft with printed power and toughness can be your commander.

New

Station

How you power a Spacecraft up. Tap creatures at sorcery speed and add charge counters equal to their total power. It rewards a wide board and gives spare creatures something to do on turns they can't attack profitably.

New

Warp

Cast a card from hand for a reduced cost; it gets exiled at the next end step, but you can cast it again later from exile for its normal cost. Effectively an early down-payment on a card you'll get twice.

New

Void

Abilities that improve if a nonland permanent left the battlefield this turn, or if you warped a spell this turn. Deliberately easy to switch on — which is why it enhances decks rather than requiring one.

New

Planet lands

A new nonbasic land type. Planets can carry a station ability, producing mana and then unlocking a further ability once stationed.

New

Lander tokens

Artifact tokens that ramp — useful to counters-and-artifacts decks on both counts.

Limited

The draft archetypes

A full ten-pair format, each with its own signpost uncommon. Our sources documented six of the ten by name; rather than invent the remaining four, here are the ones that were actually published.

WU

Two Spells a Turn

Tempo

Signposted by Station Monitor. Warp cards make the second spell easy.

UB

Artifact Value

Value

A grindy artifacts deck, well served by Landers.

BR

Void

Aggro / Sacrifice

Turns Void on deliberately, by making sure something leaves the battlefield each turn.

RG

Landfall

Midrange

The midrange landfall deck, with Landers helping hit land drops.

GW

Counters

Go-Tall

Puts counters on creatures — and charge counters on Spacecraft.

GU

Ramp

Ramp

Builds mana toward the set's expensive top end.

Commander

The two Commander decks

Two three-colour precons, each shipping with a pair of legal commanders.

World Shaper

Hearthhull, the Worldseed · Szarel, Genesis Shepherd

Sacrifice lands, grow back stronger.

Counter Intelligence

Kilo, Apogee Mind · Inspirit, Flagship Vessel

Counters across creatures and Spacecraft alike.

Building one of these into something of your own? The precon buying guide covers how to judge a deck, and the Commander deck template is the shape to build toward.

FAQ

Common questions

When did Edge of Eternities release?

August 1, 2025, with prerelease events from July 25. Set codes are EOE, EOC for the Commander decks and EOS for the bonus sheet.

What is a Spacecraft and how does Station work?

Spacecraft is a new artifact type, similar to Vehicles but stationed instead of crewed — and it won't necessarily become a creature. To station one, tap creatures at sorcery speed and add charge counters equal to their total power.

How does Warp work?

Warp lets you cast a card from hand for a reduced cost. It gets exiled at the next end step, but you can cast it again later from exile for its normal mana value — so it is an early down-payment on a card you get to use twice.

Can a Spacecraft be my commander?

Yes, if it is legendary and has printed power and toughness. The same rule covers Legendary Vehicles.

What are the two Edge of Eternities Commander decks?

World Shaper, a sacrifice-lands-and-grow-back deck with Hearthhull, the Worldseed and Szarel, Genesis Shepherd, and Counter Intelligence, led by Kilo, Apogee Mind or Inspirit, Flagship Vessel.

Playing Edge of Eternities in Commander?

TurnZero keeps deck records, MMR, and moments for every Commander night — so you can see which new cards are actually earning their slot.
