A world of small animals
Bloomburrow is a plane of small animals, and its structure is unusually clean: ten animal families, one per colour pair, each with its own mechanical identity. That makes it one of the most legible Limited formats in years, since you can often name the deck from three picks.
Offspring is the mechanic people remember. Pay an extra cost as you cast a creature and you also get a 1/1 copy of it, which turns a single card into a body and a spare.
Themes
Offspring
An optional additional cost. Pay it as you cast a creature and you also create a 1/1 token copy of that creature. Two bodies from one card, and the token keeps the original's abilities at a smaller size.
Gift
An optional cost you declare as you cast a spell, giving an opponent something (a card, a Food, a tapped Fish) in exchange for a stronger effect. A rare mechanic that makes handing an opponent value the correct play.
Valiant
Triggers the first time each turn a creature becomes the target of a spell or ability you control. Cheap to turn on deliberately, which is why the Mice deck can do it every turn.
Forage
Exile three cards from your graveyard or sacrifice a Food to pay for a bonus. It anchored Golgari Squirrels, one of the format's strongest decks.
Expend
Triggers once you've spent a set amount of mana in a turn, rewarding decks that use every point.
Where You Can Play It
A release usually ships more than one set code, and they don't all share the same legality: the main set is Standard-legal while Commander cards are eternal-only. Here's each code in Bloomburrow.
Standard legality is current as of August 2026. There is no rotation in 2026, but Bloomburrow is a 2024 set: it leaves Standard at the February 2027 rotation, when 2025–2027 becomes the pool. Its cards stay legal in Pioneer, Modern and the eternal formats after that. Commons from any set are Pauper-legal; that isn't listed per set here.
Limited
One animal family per colour pair, each with a mechanical hook. Golgari Squirrels, built on forage, was among the strongest; the Mice deck leans on valiant and can trigger it more reliably than most.
Squirrels
Forage
Exiles the graveyard and eats Food for value. One of the format's best decks.
Mice
Valiant
Targets its own small creatures every turn to switch valiant on repeatedly.
The other eight families
One per colour pair
Every remaining pair has its own animal family and hook: Bats, Birds, Rabbits, Rats, Frogs, Lizards, Otters and Raccoons across the rest of the wheel.
Commander
Four precons under the BLC code, each built around one of the plane's families.
Four Commander decks
BLC
Animal-family precons sold alongside the set.
