Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG
The banlist decides how many copies of a card you can play in a TCG tournament. This is the list that took effect on September 21, 2026: what changed, then every Forbidden, Limited and Semi-Limited card.
Every Yu-Gi-Oh! deck can run up to 3 copies of a card. The Forbidden & Limited List, which most players call the banlist, lowers that number for the cards Konami names on it.
The count covers your Main Deck, Extra Deck and Side Deck together, so a Limited card in your Side Deck uses your one copy. Konami changes the list a few times a year to slow down the strongest decks and to bring old cards back once they're safe again.
This is the TCG list, used at TCG Advanced Format tournaments, from your local store to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series. Master Duel keeps its own list, and the Genesys format replaces this list with points. How Genesys points work →
Konami's September 21, 2026 list changed 21 cards. Eight became Forbidden, three moved to Limited or Semi-Limited, and ten came off the list. Two of those ten, Mind Master and Elder Entity Norden, went from Forbidden to Unlimited a week later, on September 28.

Most of the new Forbidden cards come from decks that were winning, such as Kewl Tune Rotary, while the cards that came off are older ones Konami judged safe again, such as Premature Burial and Metamorphosis. If a deck you own lost a card, the card's page lists every printing, so you can see what your copies are still worth. Konami's announcement →
You can't put any of these in your Main, Extra or Side Deck. Each name goes to the card's page, with its text and every printing.
You can run 1 copy of each of these.
You can run up to 2 copies of each of these.

The three lists above are the catalog's statuses on October 11, 2026. Before a tournament, check them against Konami's own page, since it is the one a judge uses.
TurnZero HQ checks Yu-Gi-Oh! decks against the TCG Forbidden & Limited List, so a Forbidden card or a second copy of a Limited one shows up before you get to the store. Every card page shows the card's current status too. Deck building rules →
Konami doesn't publish a fixed schedule. It announces each new TCG list on its website shortly before the list takes effect, a few times a year. The list on this page took effect on September 21, 2026.
Forbidden cards can't be used at all. You can run 1 copy of a Limited card and 2 copies of a Semi-Limited card, counting your Main Deck, Extra Deck and Side Deck together. Every other card is Unlimited, which means the usual 3 copies.
Yes. Pot of Greed is Forbidden on the TCG list effective September 21, 2026. It is legal in the Genesys format, where it costs 20 points.
