Generation Force Card List and Set Guide

Overview

Generation Force is a 100-card set released August 16, 2011, with codes GENF-EN000 to GENF-EN099. 99 cards were new; one had appeared first on a sneak peek card, according to the catalog's release dates.

It is the first set with Xyz Monsters. An Xyz Monster is Summoned from the Extra Deck by stacking monsters of the same Level as its materials, and it detaches those materials to use its effects. The set has eight, among them Number 17: Leviathan Dragon, Leviair the Sea Dragon, Steelswarm Roach and Tiras, Keeper of Genesis, and main deck monsters such as Gagaga Magician and Goblindbergh that make same-Level pairs.

Its archetype is the Wind-Ups, nine Machines and Spellcasters whose effects trigger each other, with Wind-Up Factory to search them. The HEROes also get new branches, the Masked HEROes and Vision HERO Adoration, and Number 17 is printed at Ultra, Ultimate and Ghost Rare.

Cards and rarities

Generation Force has 100 set codes, each starting GENF-EN and printed under the artwork on the right. Where a card comes at more than one rarity, every version shares its code, so the table counts set codes at each rarity and a code printed at two rarities is counted twice.

The Ultimate Rares, the Ghost Rare and the codes listed at both Common and Short Print count again, which is why the rows add up to 113 printings for 100 set codes. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts the distinct set codes you own against the set's total, so a card printed at two rarities counts once, with an every-rarity count beside it for collectors chasing each version. The first Xyz Monsters

Xyz Monsters are the set's new mechanic, and these are the ones collectors and players know best.

Number 17: Leviathan Dragon

GENF-EN039

A Rank 3 Xyz for 2 Level 3 monsters. Detach a material to gain 500 ATK; with no materials it cannot attack directly.

Leviair the Sea Dragon

GENF-EN043

A Rank 3 Xyz that detaches a material to Special Summon a banished Level 4 or lower monster to your field.

Steelswarm Roach

GENF-EN099

A Rank 4 Xyz that detaches a material to negate the Special Summon of a Level 5 or higher monster and destroy it.

Tiras, Keeper of Genesis

GENF-EN044

A Rank 5 Xyz that cannot be destroyed by card effects while it has materials, and destroys an opponent's card after battling.

Gagaga Magician

GENF-EN001

Once per turn, change its Level to any Level from 1 to 8 until the End Phase, which makes it a flexible Xyz material.

Playing it

No Generation Force card is on the Forbidden & Limited List as of October 23, 2026, so a deck can run three copies of any of them.

An Xyz Summon needs two or more monsters of the same Level on your field, so cards like Gagaga Magician, which can change its Level, and Goblindbergh, which brings a second monster with it, are what make the set's Xyz Monsters playable.
