Metal Raiders Card List and Set Guide

Overview

Metal Raiders is the second English Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG set, released June 26, 2002, three and a half months after Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon. Its 144 cards run from MRD-000 to MRD-143.

133 of the 144 cards were new. The other 11 first appeared in Starter Deck: Yugi or Starter Deck: Kaiba, or in the case of Summoned Skull a promotional card, according to the catalog's release dates.

The set is remembered for its Traps and Spells more than its monsters. Mirror Force, Solemn Judgment, Magic Jammer and Horn of Heaven are all Ultra Rares here, alongside Change of Heart, Heavy Storm and searchers such as Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest.

Like the first set, the catalog files 434 printings under Metal Raiders, adding MRD-E and MRD-EN codes from its other printings. This guide covers the 144 MRD- codes.

Cards and rarities

Metal Raiders has 144 set codes, each starting MRD- and printed under the artwork on the right. Where a card comes at more than one rarity, every version shares its code, so the table counts set codes at each rarity and a code printed at two rarities is counted twice.

Each MRD- code is printed at a single rarity, so the rows add up to the set's 144 cards. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts the distinct set codes you own against the set's total, so a card printed at two rarities counts once, with an every-rarity count beside it for collectors chasing each version. The famous cards

Metal Raiders has a few small groups of cards that work together, such as the three monsters Gate Guardian needs and the Harpie Ladies, and some of the game's best-known monsters.

Summoned Skull

MRD-003

A Level 6 DARK Fiend Normal Monster with 2500 ATK and 1200 DEF, always treated as an Archfiend card. It is the set's most valuable 1st Edition card.

Gate Guardian

MRD-000

A Level 11 monster with 3750 ATK and 3400 DEF that cannot be Normal Summoned. You Special Summon it from your hand by Tributing Sanga of the Thunder, Kazejin and Suijin, all three Super Rares in this set.

Black Skull Dragon

MRD-018

A Fusion of Summoned Skull and Red-Eyes Black Dragon with 3200 ATK and 2500 DEF. The catalog has no 1st Edition price for its Ultra Rare.

Time Wizard

MRD-065

Once per turn it tosses a coin. Call it right and every monster your opponent controls is destroyed; call it wrong and yours are, and you take half their ATK as damage.

Kuriboh

MRD-071

Discard it during damage calculation when an opponent's monster attacks, and you take no battle damage from that battle.

Harpie Lady Sisters

MRD-009

A Level 6 Harpie that cannot be Normal Summoned and must be Special Summoned with Elegant Egotist, a Rare in the same set.

Cards worth knowing

These are the Traps and searchers that came out of Metal Raiders. Two of the set's cards are still on the Forbidden & Limited List.

Mirror Force

MRD-138

When an opponent's monster declares an attack, destroy all of your opponent's Attack Position monsters. Its 1st Edition Ultra Rare was $232.08 on October 23, 2026.

Solemn Judgment

MRD-127

A Counter Trap: pay half your LP to negate a Summon or the activation of a Spell or Trap and destroy that card. It is Limited.

Change of Heart

MRD-060

Take control of one monster your opponent controls until the End Phase. It first appeared in Starter Deck: Yugi, but its Ultra Rare is from this set.

Sangan

MRD-069

When it is sent from the field to the GY, add a monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck to your hand. Witch of the Black Forest does the same for 1500 or less DEF.

The chase card: Summoned Skull

Summoned Skull

MRD-003

Rarity Ultra Rare

Set code MRD-003

1st Edition market price, October 23, 2026 $596.48

The 1st Edition Ultra Rare Summoned Skull (MRD-003) is Metal Raiders' chase card. It was $596.48 on October 23, 2026, more than twice the next card, the 1st Edition Ultra Rare Solemn Judgment at $249.71.

The Unlimited copy was $33.16 the same day. The catalog's first printing of the card is a 2001 promotional card, so MRD-003 is not the oldest Summoned Skull, but it is the first one in a booster set.

It is a Level 6 DARK Fiend Normal Monster with 2500 ATK and 1200 DEF, and it is always treated as an Archfiend card, so Archfiend support from later sets can use it.

Rarity is in the foil rather than the set code, so check it before you price the copy in your hand. Reading the set code and rarity →

Chase cards and prices

Summoned Skull led the set on October 23, 2026, and Solemn Judgment, Gate Guardian and Mirror Force were close together behind it. All eight of the most valuable printings were 1st Edition Ultra, Secret or Super Rares.

Metal Raiders card list

Every set code in Metal Raiders, in set code order, with each rarity it is printed at: 144 set codes in all, as listed in TurnZero HQ's catalog on October 23, 2026. Each name goes to that card's page, with today's price for every printing.

Playing it

2 cards from Metal Raiders are on the Forbidden & Limited List as of October 23, 2026: Heavy Storm is Forbidden; Solemn Judgment is Limited. A Forbidden card cannot be played at all and a Limited card at one copy per deck; the rest of the set can be run at three.

Mirror Force, Magic Jammer and Horn of Heaven are not on the list, so a deck can run three of each. Solemn Judgment is Limited to one, and Heavy Storm is Forbidden.

Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest both search when they are sent from the field to the GY, but each can only use that effect once per turn, and you cannot use the searched card's name for the rest of that turn.
