Return of the Duelist Card List and Set Guide

Overview

Return of the Duelist is a 100-card set released August 24, 2012, with codes REDU-EN000 to REDU-EN099. 98 cards were new; two had appeared first in the 2012 Collectible Tins or on a sneak peek card, according to the catalog's release dates.

It starts four archetypes. The Spellbooks (twelve cards) are Spellcasters and Spells that search and fuel each other, led by High Priestess of Prophecy. The Madolche (ten) shuffle back into the Deck when an opponent destroys them. The Chronomaly (twelve) and the Heroic Warriors (seven) are built around Rank 4 and Rank 5 Xyz.

It has twelve Xyz Monsters, and its Ghost Rare is Heroic Champion - Excalibur. On October 23, 2026 its prices were moderate, led by Spellbook of Secrets.

Cards and rarities

Return of the Duelist has 100 set codes, each starting REDU-EN and printed under the artwork on the right. Where a card comes at more than one rarity, every version shares its code, so the table counts set codes at each rarity and a code printed at two rarities is counted twice.

The 10 Ultimate Rares and the Ghost Rare count again beside their other rarity, which is why the rows add up to 111 printings for 100 set codes. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts the distinct set codes you own against the set's total, so a card printed at two rarities counts once, with an every-rarity count beside it for collectors chasing each version. Playing it

No Return of the Duelist card is on the Forbidden & Limited List as of October 23, 2026, so a deck can run three copies of any of them.

High Priestess of Prophecy needs 3 Spellbook Spells in your hand to Special Summon itself, which is why the Spellbook deck runs so many cards that search other Spellbooks.
