The First Chapter Set Guide
Where Disney Lorcana began: six inks of 34 cards each, the first Floodborn characters to Shift onto, songs your characters sing for free, and 12 Enchanted cards.
Overview
The First Chapter is Disney Lorcana's first set. Its 204 regular cards split evenly across the six inks, 34 each: 149 characters, 23 actions, 12 songs and 20 items. 151 of them carry the inkwell symbol, so they can go into your inkwell as ink.
Every keyword the game started with is here: Shift on 12 cards, Evasive on 10, Challenger and Rush on 7 each, Bodyguard on 6, Support on 5, and Singer, Ward and Reckless on 3 each. Characters come in three kinds: Storyborn, as they appear in the films (95 cards), Dreamborn, reimagined (42), and Floodborn, the 12 characters you Shift onto an earlier version of themselves.
It has 12 Enchanted cards rather than the 18 of later sets, and no Epic or Iconic cards.
Cards and rarities
The First Chapter has 216 cards. The collector line at the bottom of each card shows its number over 204, the count of regular cards, then the language and the set number 1, as in "1/204 · EN · 1". Cards numbered above 204 are the 12 Enchanted cards.
Every Enchanted card is a foil reprint of a card from the same set with new art, so it plays exactly like the regular printing. The Epic and Iconic rarities did not exist yet: Fabled introduced both in 2025. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts the regular cards by collector number and keeps Enchanted, Epic and Iconic cards apart as extras, so finishing the set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. Shift and songs
Shift lets you play a Floodborn character on top of a character with the same name for its Shift cost instead of its full cost. The new card keeps the old one's state, so a character that was already in play can quest or challenge the turn you Shift onto it. Elsa - Spirit of Winter costs 8, or 6 by Shift onto any Elsa.
Songs are actions with a second way to pay: a character with a cost at least the song's can exert to sing it for free. The set's 12 songs range from One Jump Ahead, which ramps your inkwell, to Be Prepared, which banishes every character.

The chase card: Elsa - Spirit of Winter
The First Chapter's chase card is the Enchanted Elsa - Spirit of Winter, illustrated by Matthew Robert Davies. At $952.84 on October 22, 2026 it was worth nearly three times the next card, the Enchanted Mickey Mouse - Wayward Sorcerer at $339.09.
The same Elsa is a Legendary at number 42, where it was $4.73, or $66.98 in foil. The card text is identical, so a player who wants Elsa in an Infinity deck needs only the Legendary.

Playing it
The First Chapter is not legal in Core Constructed. Core Constructed began with Fabled (set 9) in 2025, which reprinted 170 cards from sets 1 to 4, and has never included sets 1 to 4 themselves. Infinity Constructed allows every set.
In Infinity, or at a kitchen table, the set still teaches the game well. Its characters are simple next to later sets', so it is a fair place to learn how questing, challenging and inking trade off before the later mechanics arrive.
