The Duelist Genesis is a 100-card set released September 2, 2008, with codes TDGS-EN000 to TDGS-EN099. 97 cards were new; three had appeared first in the 2008 Collectible Tins or on a sneak peek card, according to the catalog's release dates.

It is the first set with Synchro Monsters and Tuners. A Synchro Monster is Summoned from the Extra Deck by sending a Tuner and non-Tuner monsters from your field to the GY whose Levels add up to its Level. The set has seven Synchro Monsters, including Stardust Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, Goyo Guardian and Nitro Warrior, and nine Tuners to make them.

It also introduced the Psychic monster type, eleven of them, with Emergency Teleport to Summon them. Stardust Dragon is printed at three rarities here: Ultra Rare, Ultimate Rare and Ghost Rare.

Cards and rarities

The Duelist Genesis has 100 set codes, each starting TDGS-EN and printed under the artwork on the right. Where a card comes at more than one rarity, every version shares its code, so the table counts set codes at each rarity and a code printed at two rarities is counted twice.

RarityCardsWhat they are
Common48
Rare20
Super Rare14
Ultra Rare10
Secret Rare8Eight codes, from Avenging Knight Parshath (TDGS-EN000) to Charge of the Light Brigade and Hand of the Six Samurai.
Ultimate Rare10Every Ultra Rare code, each also printed as an Ultra Rare.
Ghost Rare1Stardust Dragon (TDGS-EN040), which is also an Ultra Rare and an Ultimate Rare.

The 10 Ultimate Rares and the Ghost Rare count again beside their other rarity, which is why the rows add up to 111 printings for 100 set codes. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts the distinct set codes you own against the set's total, so a card printed at two rarities counts once, with an every-rarity count beside it for collectors chasing each version. Playing it

No The Duelist Genesis card is on the Forbidden & Limited List as of October 23, 2026, so a deck can run three copies of any of them.

A Synchro Summon needs a Tuner and at least one non-Tuner on your field whose Levels add up exactly to the Synchro Monster's Level, so a deck built from this set runs Tuners at the right Levels for the Synchros it wants.
