Pokémon TCG · 2001 Set Guide
Ho-Oh, Entei, Raikou, Suicune and Celebi, and two secret rares that started a rarity: Shining Gyarados and Shining Magikarp.
Neo Revelation came out on September 21, 2001. Its printed total is 64, and two more cards sit above it, 65 and 66: Shining Gyarados and Shining Magikarp, the first Shining Pokémon. Each Shining Pokémon is limited to one copy per deck.
The rest of its 66 cards are 59 more Pokémon and 5 Trainers. Its holos include the Johto legendaries Ho-Oh, Entei, Raikou and Suicune, and Celebi.
Neo Revelation has 66 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "4/64". The cards print a set symbol, not a set code; the code here is the short one the catalog and TurnZero HQ file the set under.
The printed total is 64, so the two Shining Pokémon, 65 and 66, are above it. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →
The two Shining Pokémon and two legendaries:
Shining Gyarados
Neo Revelation #65
One per deck. Outrage does 30 plus 10 for each damage counter on it, or nothing on tails.
Shining Magikarp
Neo Revelation #66
One per deck. Dragon Bond searches your deck for a Gyarados, Dark Gyarados or Shining Gyarados.
Ho-oh
Neo Revelation #7
Stoke attaches a Fire Energy from your deck; Dive Bomb does 90 or nothing.
Suicune
Neo Revelation #14
Crystal Body prevents every effect of attacks on it other than damage.

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on October 22, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →
One copy of every card in Neo Revelation, bought as singles, cost $3,528.01 on October 22, 2026. That is the second most expensive of the four sets in the Neo series.
The three most valuable cards, Shining Gyarados, Shining Magikarp and Houndoom, come to $1,584.82, or 45% of the total. Without them the set costs $1,943.19. Of the 66 cards, 25 were under $2.00, together $24.32; the other 41 add up to $3,503.69.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, usually an Unlimited copy rather than a 1st Edition one, or a stamped or error copy where the catalog prices one lower, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
The catalog marks every card in Neo Revelation as legal in neither Standard nor Expanded, the two formats Play! Pokémon sanctions. Expanded starts with the Black & White series in 2011.
September 21, 2001. It was the third set of the Neo series.
