Each guide covers the set's Mega Evolution ex or Pokémon ex, the Trainers worth knowing, rarity counts and the chase cards with dated prices. These are the cards each one is built around.
The chase card in each set
Every set has one card its collectors open packs for. Ascended Heroes' is in a different league from the rest: its Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare was worth more than the other four chase cards combined.

The guides
Ascended Heroes (January 30, 2026). The biggest Pokémon set of 2026 by a wide margin: 295 cards, more than twice the size of the year's main expansions, built around trainer's Pokémon, Team Rocket and a long run of Mega Evolution ex.
Perfect Order (March 27, 2026). The third Mega Evolution expansion and the first main set of 2026. Mega Zygarde ex is the face of it, with a Pokémon Tool printed for it alone, and Meowth ex is the card players reached for first.
Chaos Rising (May 22, 2026). The fourth Mega Evolution expansion, with a strong Kalos lean. Mega Greninja ex carries it, both at the table and in the price list, with four more Mega Evolution ex beside it.
Pitch Black (July 17, 2026). The fifth Mega Evolution expansion and the darkest of the year: 18 Darkness Pokémon, Mega Darkrai ex as its face card, and two Supporters that reward decks without rule boxes.
30th Celebration (September 16, 2026). The anniversary set. It prints 30 different Pikachu cards, puts Mew ex and Mewtwo ex at the top of its chase list, and comes with a Classic Collection of 30 cards reprinted from across the game's history.
What changed with Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution Pokémon ex are the series' headline cards. They give up three Prize cards when Knocked Out, one more than a regular Pokémon ex, in exchange for more HP and bigger attacks. Are the 2026 Pokémon sets legal in Standard?
Their cards carry the H, I and J regulation marks, which Standard has allowed since April 10, 2026. The exception is the 30th Celebration Classic Collection, whose reprints keep their original marks.
