Volibear in Riftbound
Volibear has 1 Legend, 1 Signature card and 2 champion units in the released Riftbound sets. Here is every one, what it does, and how they fit together in a Volibear deck.
Volibear's Legend
A Volibear deck is led by Volibear, Relentless Storm, which plays Fury and Body. The Legend is the card that leads your deck: its tag names your champion and its two domains are the only ones your other cards can come from.
| Card | Set | Domain | Rules text |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volibear, Relentless Storm | Origins | Fury and Body | When you play a [Mighty] unit, you may exhaust me to channel 1 rune exhausted. (A unit is Mighty while it has 5+ [Might].) |
Text is as Riot's card gallery gives it, with icons in brackets: [1] is 1 Energy, [Any Power] is 1 Power of any domain and [Exhaust] means turn the card sideways. Every Riftbound Legend →
Volibear's Signature cards
Volibear has 1 Signature card. A Signature card carries one champion's tag, and only a deck whose Legend names that champion can play it. Your deck can hold at most 3 Signature cards in total, counting copies.
| Card | Set | Type | Domain | Cost | Rules text |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stormbringer | Origins | Signature spell | Fury and Body | 6 | Choose a friendly unit in your base. Deal damage equal to its Might to all enemy units at a battlefield, then move your unit there. |
Volibear's champion units
Volibear has 2 champion units across 1 set. One copy of a champion unit sits out as your Chosen Champion, which must carry your Legend's tag, so these are the cards a Volibear deck picks it from. Each has its own name, and the 3-copy limit counts each name apart.
| Card | Set | Domain | Rarity | Cost | Might | Rules text |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Volibear, Furious | Origins | Fury | Epic | 10 | 9 | [Deflect 2] (Opponents must pay [Any Power][Any Power] to choose me with a spell or ability.) When I attack, deal 5 damage split among any number of enemy units here. |
| Volibear, Imposing | Origins | Body | Rare | 12 | 10 | [Shield 3] (+3 [Might] while I'm a defender.) [Tank] (I must be assigned combat damage first.) When an opponent moves to a battlefield other than mine, draw 1. (Bases are not battlefield.) |
Building aVolibear deck
A Riftbound deck has 1 Legend, a main deck of at least 40 cards, 12 runes and 3 battlefields. Every card in the main deck has to come from your Legend's two domains, which decides which of Volibear's cards each Legend can use.
| Legend | Domains | Chosen Champion options | Signature cards in its domains |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volibear, Relentless Storm | Fury and Body | Volibear, Furious, Volibear, Imposing | Stormbringer |
A champion unit can be your Chosen Champion only if every domain it has is one of your Legend's two. Units of other champions can still go in your main deck as ordinary cards if their domains fit. The full deck-building rules → Published Riftbound decks →
