Riftbound
Every Riftbound set, product and major event Riot has announced for 2027, with the dates as of October 26, 2026 and what is still unknown.
Riot has announced four Riftbound sets for 2027 and dated two of them. Legacy opens the year on January 29, a second edition of the Proving Grounds starter box follows in February, and The Reckoning comes next. Sets 8 and 9 have a quarter each and no name.

Pre-Rift is Riftbound's prerelease: a week of events at local game stores where you can play the set before it launches. Showcase printings are the alternate arts, overnumbered and signature cards Riot counts apart from the main set. Showcase printings explained →
Legacy (LGC) is Set 6 and the first Riftbound set designed for draft. It is built around six regions, Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover and Zaun, the Freljord and Bilgewater, and carries art inspired by League of Legends' original look. It has 239 cards plus 93 Showcase printings. Pre-Rift runs January 22 to 28, and previews start at Convergence Fest in December.
Riot has named eight of its twelve new Legends: Ashe, Garen, Heimerdinger, Illaoi, Karma, Lux, Tryndamere and Vladimir. Legacy ships with booster packs and displays, a Vault Bundle, Pre-Rift kits, and four Champion Decks for Tryndamere, Ashe, Lux and Garen.
Three changes start with Legacy. Packs swap one Common for a slot that holds a Legend or a Battlefield, about half the time each. Rune Kits for stores add a Minion unit that drafters can take to fill out a deck. Card text changes too: tokens are "created" rather than "played", "When you play me" becomes "When I enter", targets get a grey backing, and an arrow separates a triggered ability's condition from its effect.
The second edition of the boxed starter (PG2) has four Champion Decks led by Legacy champions: Heimerdinger, Karma, Vladimir and Illaoi. Each box holds the four decks, four oversized Battlefields, four paper playmats, four score trackers and a rulebook, for $40. Riot says it has no card you cannot also open in a booster. It releases in English, Chinese, French and Korean. The first Proving Grounds →
The Reckoning (REC) is Set 7, themed on ancient beings waking up. It has 264 cards plus 67 Showcase printings, and Riot has named five of its nine new Legends: Aurelion Sol, Cho'Gath, Shyvana, Vayne and Zilean. It ships with booster packs and displays, a Vault Bundle, Pre-Rift kits, and Champion Decks for Shyvana and Vayne.
Its date depends on which Riot post you read. The 2027 set line-up article from August 3 lists April 30, 2027, with Pre-Rift April 23-29, 2027. The roadmap, last updated October 26, 2026, lists June 30, 2027, with Pre-Rift June 23-29, 2027. The same roadmap puts the first Reckoning Regional on May 14 to 16, which fits the April date. Until Riot settles it, check your store's Pre-Rift listing before you plan around either.
Riot has not named Set 8, but it is set in Bandle City, home of the Yordles, and Riot says it will bring new champions and mechanics. It is the first Riftbound set made with an in-person concept art session at Riot's Los Angeles campus. Its Continental is in London, August 13 to 15, so expect it to release before then.
Riot has shared nothing about Set 9 except a Q4 window and a pun-filled tease ("Without a Shadow of a doubt", "Isle guess this will do") that reads as a hint at the Shadow Isles. That is a reading of a joke, not an announcement. Its Continental is in Toronto, December 10 to 12.
Organized play changes names in 2027. The Riftbound Challenge Series replaces Summoner Skirmishes as the first step at local game stores, Riftbound Regionals replace Regional Qualifiers, and four three-day Continentals replace Regional Championships. A World Championship caps the season, with details to come. The Nexus Cup is a separate monthly casual tournament at stores. Dates are local to each event. Where to play Riftbound →

Yes. Starting with Legacy, one Common slot becomes a slot that holds either a Legend or a Battlefield, about half the time each, so packs have 6 Commons instead of 7.
