One Piece Card Game
Life in the One Piece Card Game is a stack of face-down cards, not a number, and running out of it doesn't lose you the game on its own. Here's how life works under the rules, the ways players keep track of it, and how to keep score and record the result in TurnZero HQ.
Your life is set by your Leader. Every Leader prints a Life number, most often 5 or 4, and after both players have kept their opening hands, each puts that many cards from the top of their deck face down in their Life area. Those cards are your life: the count of face-down cards is your life total for the rest of the game.
Losing life is not all bad. Each Life card you take is a card in hand, which is also a possible counter for the next attack,, and a Trigger can swing a turn.
Reaching 0 Life cards does not end the game. Under the official rules, you lose when your Leader takes damage while you have no Life cards left, which is why the finishing blow is usually one more attack on a Leader with an empty Life area. You also lose when you have no cards left in your deck, and you can concede at any time.

The Life area is its own counter. Your Life cards sit face down in front of you, so either player can count them at a glance, and many players never track life any other way. Other methods add something the cards don't.
The Life cards stay the source of truth whatever you use. A number anywhere else is only right if someone moves it every time the Life area changes.
TurnZero HQ keeps score for a game you play at a real table, and records who won and how. A game belongs to a gathering, which is the app's word for a night of games, and the gathering is for one card game.
A Life number reaching 0 doesn't end anything in the app, because it doesn't end anything in the rules. The game stays open until someone records the result.
One device keeps score: the host or a player seated at the table. Anyone else in the gathering can watch the numbers update live, and the host or a seated player can take over with Keep score here. The finished game is saved in the gathering's history.

It is a scorekeeper, not a place to play: there is no online play, and it doesn't track the cards themselves, such as DON!!, which Life cards you took or which Triggers you used. One Piece games also have no ratings, win odds, per-game player stats, AI recaps, awards, damage chart, Personal Mode or best-of-three matches in TurnZero HQ. Those are Magic features today.

For each point of damage, the top card of your Life area goes to your hand. If that card has a [Trigger], you can reveal it and use the Trigger instead of adding it to your hand. Some effects change this, such as Banish, which sends the Life card to the trash instead.
No, because the rules don't. The tracker keeps each player's life, and when the game is over at the table, whoever is keeping score taps End Game, picks the winner, and can record how it ended: Leader defeated, Deck out or Concession.
The setup screen sets one starting life for the table, from 1 to 10, starting at 5. If the Leaders print different numbers, set it to one of them and tap the other player's number during the game to type their real total.
