Pokémon TCG · 2013 Set Guide
The second Team Plasma set, with an unusual card at the top: a Trainer, the secret-rare Ultra Ball, ahead of a secret Garchomp and the full-art Deoxys-EX.
Plasma Freeze is the ninth Black & White set: 116 cards up to the printed total and six secret rares above it, Empoleon, Sigilyph, Garbodor, Garchomp, Max Potion and Ultra Ball (117 to 122).
Team Plasma continues. Deoxys-EX's Power Connect adds 10 damage to your other Team Plasma Pokémon's attacks, Team Plasma Ball searches your deck for a Team Plasma Pokémon, and Ghetsis shuffles the Items in your opponent's hand back into their deck and draws you a card for each.
Plasma Freeze has 122 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/116", next to the set code PLF.
The printed total is 116, so the 6 cards from 117 to 122 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →
Six Pokémon-EX, each worth two Prize cards when Knocked Out. Three of them:
Deoxys-EX
Plasma Freeze #53
170 HP Team Plasma. Power Connect: your Team Plasma Pokémon's attacks, other than Deoxys-EX's, do 10 more damage to the Active Pokémon.
Latios-EX
Plasma Freeze #86
170 HP. Luster Purge does 150 and discards all Energy from it.
Tornadus-EX
Plasma Freeze #98
180 HP Team Plasma. Windfall shuffles your hand into your deck and draws 6 cards; Jet Blast does 60 plus 30 for each Plasma Energy on it.
Two Pokémon Tools, one of them an ACE SPEC:
Plasma Freeze's chase card is Ultra Ball, numbered 122/116, a Rare Secret, illustrated by 5ban Graphics, at $1,199.51 on October 22, 2026.
The Rare Secret Garchomp (120/116) was second at $900.00 and the Rare Ultra Deoxys-EX (111/116) third at $803.25.
Ultra Ball is printed only once in Plasma Freeze, here.
Only the exact version is worth its price. The number at the bottom of the card and the rarity symbol beside it tell you which one you pulled. Reading the number and rarity symbol →
Secret rares lead, with the Ultra Ball first. Two prices are older than the rest: the secret Empoleon's $375.00 is from October 10, 2026 and the secret Garbodor's $248.79 from October 21, the last days the catalog priced them.
| Card | Rarity | Market price, October 22, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Ultra Ball | Rare Secret | $1,199.51 |
| Garchomp | Rare Secret | $900.00 |
| Deoxys-EX | Rare Ultra | $803.25 |
| Empoleon | Rare Secret | $375.00 on Oct 10 |
| Latios-EX | Rare Ultra | $252.48 |
| Garbodor | Rare Secret | $248.79 on Oct 21 |
| Latias-EX | Rare Ultra | $243.05 |
These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on October 22, 2026, except where a row gives an earlier day because the catalog had no newer price. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. One copy of every card in Plasma Freeze, bought as singles, cost $5,283.49 on October 22, 2026. That is the most expensive of the twelve sets in the Black & White series.
The three most valuable cards, Ultra Ball, Garchomp and Deoxys-EX, come to $2,902.76, or 55% of the total. Without them the set costs $2,380.73. Of the 122 cards, 70 were under $2.00, together $37.53; the other 52 add up to $5,245.96.
Two cards' prices are older than October 22, 2026, because the catalog had no newer one: Empoleon (117), $375.00 on October 10 and Garbodor (119), $248.79 on October 21. They are counted at that price.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
No Plasma Freeze card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Plasma Freeze is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on, except for Ghetsis (101/116 and 115/116), on the Expanded banned list.
A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
May 8, 2013. Its set code is PLF.
122. The printed total is 116, and the 6 cards numbered above it are secret rares.
The top card is the secret-rare printing of Ultra Ball (122/116), an Item that discards 2 cards to search your deck for any Pokémon. At $1,199.51 on October 22, 2026 it was ahead of every Pokémon in the set.
The Rare Secret Ultra Ball (122/116), at $1,199.51 on October 22, 2026, ahead of the Rare Secret Garchomp (120/116) at $900.00. Prices move daily, so check each card's page for the current figure.
