ST-05 ONE PIECE FILM edition

ST-05 is a mono-purple FILM deck led by Shanks, who spends DON!! to pump every FILM Character at once. Every card in the box rotated out of Standard on April 1, 2026, so it now belongs to casual tables and Extra Regulation.

Standard Rotated out of Standard

ST-05 collects characters from the One Piece films, from Strong World's Shiki to Film Red's Uta, and every card in it carries the FILM type. The Leader is Shanks (ST05-001), a 5000 power Leader with 5 Life whose once-per-turn effect returns 3 DON!! to your DON!! deck to give all of your FILM Characters +2000 power for the turn.

The deck's 17 different cards are the Leader plus 16 Characters and Events, including Uta, Gild Tesoro, Douglas Bullet and Shiki. All of them are block 1 cards, so the whole box left Standard on April 1, 2026. You can still play it at a kitchen table or in Bandai's Extra Regulation, where every card is legal except the ban list.

It suits a player who likes the purple DON!! −X mechanic (returning DON!! from your field to your DON!! deck as a cost) and wants a deck with a clear theme. If you want a Standard deck, read the upgrade section first: there is no purple Shanks Leader in Standard, and the FILM cards that remain are mostly red.

Every card in ST-05, including the Shanks Leader (ST05-001), is a block 1 card and has been out of Standard since April 1, 2026.

Ratings

Strength as sold 1/5

The Shanks Leader (ST05-001) is rotated, so the deck cannot be played in Standard as sold. In Extra Regulation it works, but several of its Characters, like Gordon and Dr. Indigo, have no effect at all.

Upgraded ceiling 2/5

This rates the Standard path, since no purple Shanks Leader is legal there. The closest successor is OP06-001 Uta (Red/Purple, FILM), and only six purple FILM Characters are still in Standard, so the Shanks plan of a wide purple FILM board cannot be rebuilt.

Difficulty to play 3/5

Every DON!! −3 from the Leader is DON!! you cannot spend that turn or the next, so you have to count how much you can return and still play your hand. Carina, Ain and Union Armada's Trigger help you get it back, and timing them is the main skill.

These are TurnZero HQ's own read of the cards, not tournament results or an official Bandai rating. How we rate starter decks →

How it plays

The deck wins by building a board of FILM Characters and then using Shanks to push all of them past your opponent's blockers and counters on one turn. Each FILM Character gains +2000 power, so a board of three or four attackers becomes hard to defend against all at once.

Early turns are for setup. Buena Festa looks at 5 cards and adds a FILM card to your hand, Ain adds a rested DON!! when it is played, and Carina can add 2 rested DON!! if your opponent has more DON!! than you. Those last two let you spend DON!! −X effects without falling behind on DON!!.

From turn five on, the big cards take over. Gild Tesoro returns 2 DON!! when it attacks to draw 2 cards, and Douglas Bullet returns 4 DON!! to rest up to 2 of your opponent's Characters with a cost of 6 or less and gain [Double Attack]. Union Armada protects a FILM Character for the turn and gives +4000 power, so keep one for the turn you commit to attacking.

Tips for your first games

  • Use the Shanks Leader effect after your Characters are on the field, since it only pumps FILM Characters you control during that turn.
  • Play Carina on a turn when your opponent has more DON!! than you, and trash a FILM card you do not need to add 2 DON!!.
  • Before you return 4 DON!! for Douglas Bullet, check that you can still pay for the next turn's plays.
  • Uta can block and then return 1 DON!! to rest one of your opponent's Characters with a cost of 5 or less, which keeps it from attacking next turn.
  • Lion's Threat Imperial Earth Bind and Union Armada both add an active DON!! when they are revealed as a Trigger, so a Life hit can refund a DON!! −X turn.

Upgrade guide

Every upgrade below is legal in Standard and shares a color with the Leader. Prices are each card's base printing on TCGplayer on October 10, 2026; open a card for today's price.

Swap in the purple FILM Characters still in Standard

Four purple FILM Characters from OP06 are still Standard legal and fit the Shanks Leader's +2000 to FILM Characters. Count Battler returns 1 DON!! to rest up to 2 of your opponent's Characters with a cost of 2 or less, the OP06 Gild Tesoro returns 1 DON!! to add up to 2 FILM Characters with a cost of 4 or less from your trash to your hand, Eldoraggo is a 5 cost 7000 power body with a counter, and Zephyr(Navy) returns 1 DON!! to negate a Character and K.O. it if it has 5000 power or less. They are the same cards you would carry into an OP06-001 Uta deck, so they are not wasted if you move on. Gild Tesoro is the one card here that is not budget.

CardNumberPrice, October 10, 2026
Count Battler OP06-075$0.30
Gild Tesoro OP06-071$5.26
Eldoraggo OP06-070$0.28
Zephyr(Navy) OP06-074$0.13

Budget DON!! refunds and removal

The deck's real limit is DON!!: the Leader, Douglas Bullet and Gild Tesoro all return it, and only a few cards bring it back. These purple cards are all budget and either add DON!! from your DON!! deck or give you removal for a small DON!! −X cost. Conquerer of Three Worlds Ragnaraku K.O.s a Character with a cost of 8 or less for DON!! −1, and Gum-Gum Jump Rope rests a Character with a cost of 5 or less and draws a card. Punk Vise and Benevolent King of the Waves each add a rested DON!!, and Little Black Bears is a +4000 counter event. None of them are FILM cards, so they do not benefit from the Leader's effect.

Conquerer of Three Worlds Ragnaraku EB01-039$1.01
Gum-Gum Jump Rope OP09-079$0.47

What to cut first

Bandai's list doesn't say how many copies of each card the deck has, so cut by card: take out every copy of these before anything else, and keep the deck at exactly 50.

Every card in ST-05

Bandai's card list for ST-05 has 17 different cards. 17 of them carry a block 1 icon or are banned, so they can't be played in Standard; they are still legal in Extra Regulation unless banned. Legality follows Bandai's block icons and its banned list effective October 12, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ST-05 legal in Standard?

No. Every card in ST-05, including the Shanks Leader, is a block 1 card and has been out of Standard since April 1, 2026. You can still play it casually or in Extra Regulation.

Is ST-05 good?

As a casual deck it has a clear plan: build a board of FILM Characters and use Shanks to pump them all at once. It cannot be played in Standard, and several of its Characters have no effect, so it needs upgrades even for casual play.

Is there a Standard-legal version of the ST-05 Shanks Leader?

Not in purple. The Shanks Leaders in Standard are OP09-001 (Red) and OP17-020 (Green), and neither is a FILM card. The closest FILM successor is OP06-001 Uta, a Red/Purple Leader.

What should I upgrade first in ST-05?

Replace Gordon, Dr. Indigo, Ann and Baccarat with Count Battler, Eldoraggo and Zephyr(Navy), which are budget FILM Characters that add effects or power. Then add a removal event such as Conquerer of Three Worlds Ragnaraku.
