ST-02 Worst Generation

The green Eustass"Captain"Kid deck rests opposing Characters and untaps its own Leader for a second attack. Its Leader rotated out of Standard in April 2026, so this guide covers casual play and the green Supernovas cards that still carry its plan.

Overview

Release date December 2, 2022
Colors Green
Leader Eustass"Captain"Kid
Different cards 17, plus 10 DON!!
Standard Rotated out of Standard

ST-02 Worst Generation is a mono-green deck of {Supernovas} Characters led by Eustass"Captain"Kid. The Leader has 5000 power and 5 Life. Once per turn during your Main Phase, you can rest 3 DON!! cards and trash 1 card from your hand to set the Leader as active, which lets it attack a second time.

Around the Leader, the deck's 17 different cards rest and remove opposing Characters. Straw Sword rests a Character, Killer K.O.s a rested Character with a cost of 3 or less when played, and Basil Hawkins sets itself active after battling a Character with 1 DON!! attached. Trafalgar Law untaps one of your Supernovas, and the 7-cost Eustass"Captain"Kid is a 7000-power [Blocker] that stands back up at the end of your turn with 1 DON!!.

Only ST02-007 Jewelry Bonney is still legal in Standard. The rest of the box, Leader included, rotated on April 1, 2026, so ST-02 now fits casual games and Bandai's Extra Regulation format. There is no green Kid Leader in Standard; the legal Kid Leaders are OP10-099 (yellow) and ST10-003 (red and purple). The closest green successor is OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney, a {Supernovas} Leader that rests opposing cards.

The Leader, ST02-001 Eustass"Captain"Kid, and every card in the box except ST02-007 Jewelry Bonney are block 1 cards that left Standard on April 1, 2026.

Ratings

Strength as sold 1/5

ST02-001 Eustass"Captain"Kid is a block 1 Leader, so the deck as sold cannot be played in Standard. Outside Standard, the Leader's untap costs 3 DON!! and a card from hand, which is a steep price for one extra attack.

Upgraded ceiling 3/5

There is no green Kid Leader in Standard, so this rates the green Supernovas path under OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney, the ST-24 Leader. With cheap Supernovas searchers and rest effects, that deck has a clear, playable plan.

Difficulty to play 3/5

You decide each turn whether to spend 3 DON!! and a card on a second Leader attack, and when to rest an opposing Character so Killer can K.O. it. Scalpel and Repel also return DON!! cards to active, which changes what you can afford mid-turn.

These are TurnZero HQ's own read of the cards, not tournament results or an official Bandai rating. How we rate starter decks →

How it plays

The deck wins by attacking more times than your opponent can block. In the early turns, play cheap bodies like Bepo and Urouge, and use Jewelry Bonney to search for Supernovas cards. Urouge gains +2000 power with 1 DON!! once you have 3 Characters, so building a wide board early pays off.

From turn four, rest a key opposing Character with Straw Sword, then K.O. it with Killer if it costs 3 or less. X.Drake gives your Supernovas and Navy cards +1000 power on your turn once it is rested with 1 DON!!, so attack with it first. With 1 DON!! attached, Scratchmen Apoo rests one of your opponent's DON!! cards when it attacks, which limits what they can do on their next turn.

Late in the game, the Leader's untap turns your Leader into two attacks. Spend the 3 DON!! only when the second attack matters, such as when your opponent is at 1 or 2 Life, because it also costs a card you might need as a counter. When played, Trafalgar Law can untap a rested Supernovas Character for a further attack.

Tips for your first games

  • Attack with the Leader before you use its effect, so the untap gives you a real second attack.
  • Trash a card with no counter value, like the 7-cost Eustass"Captain"Kid or Basil Hawkins, to pay for the Leader's effect.
  • Play Straw Sword before Killer in the same turn so Killer has a rested target.
  • Scalpel and Repel set a DON!! card active after the counter, which can pay for a second counter Event in the same battle.
  • Basil Hawkins only untaps after battling a Character, so aim it at Characters, not the Leader.

Upgrade guide

Every upgrade below is legal in Standard and shares a color with the Leader. Prices are each card's base printing on TCGplayer on October 10, 2026; open a card for today's price.

Budget Supernovas searchers and spare DON!! for defense

ST-02's counter Events cost DON!! cards on your opponent's turn, and the deck usually ends its own turn with everything rested after paying for the Leader's untap. Urouge and Basil Hawkins set a DON!! card active at the end of your turn, and Kid & Killer searches for a Supernovas card and can trash itself on your opponent's turn to set a DON!! active, so you still have DON!! for Repel or Scalpel. Killer is a 2-cost [Blocker] that draws a card when it blocks with 1 DON!! and 3 Characters out, and Scratchmen Apoo rests a small Character on play. Every card here is budget-priced and Standard-legal, and all of them also fit a Jewelry Bonney deck. The cost is a lower curve, so you give up some of the 5000 and 6000 bodies.

Rest and lock opposing Characters

ST-02 already rests Characters with Straw Sword and K.O.s rested ones with Killer. These cards push that further by keeping rested Characters down for a turn. Jewelry Bonney (OP07-026) and EB02-015 Jewelry Bonney stop a rested Character from untapping in your opponent's next Refresh Phase, X.Drake rests a Character with a cost of 5 or less when your Leader is Supernovas, and Radio Knife rests a Character and K.O.s a rested one in a single card. This costs you some counters, since most of these are 5- to 7-cost cards with 1000 counters.

Move to the OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney Leader

For Standard, OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney is the closest green Supernovas Leader to Kid. Once per turn when your opponent attacks, you can rest 1 DON!! card to rest one of their Leader or Character cards, which protects your Life and sets up Killer-style removal. It is the Leader of ST-24, so many of the cards above come from that box. More Pizza!! searches for any Supernovas card, Basil Hawkins (OP07-029) gains [Blocker] under a Supernovas Leader, and Bartolomeo draws and filters whenever your effects rest a Character. Bartolomeo and More Pizza!! are the pricier cards in this list.

What to cut first

Bandai's list doesn't say how many copies of each card the deck has, so cut by card: take out every copy of these before anything else, and keep the deck at exactly 50.

Every card in ST-02

Bandai's card list for ST-02 has 17 different cards. 16 of them carry a block 1 icon or are banned, so they can't be played in Standard; they are still legal in Extra Regulation unless banned. Legality follows Bandai's block icons and its banned list effective October 12, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ST-02 legal in Standard?

No. The Kid Leader and every card except ST02-007 Jewelry Bonney are block 1 cards that rotated out of Standard on April 1, 2026. The deck still works for casual games and Bandai's Extra Regulation.

Is ST-02 good?

As sold it has a clear plan of resting and removing Characters, but its Leader effect is expensive and several Characters have no effect. It cannot be played in Standard without a new Leader.

Is there a Standard green Kid Leader?

No. The Standard-legal Kid Leaders are OP10-099, which is yellow, and ST10-003, which is red and purple. For green Supernovas in Standard, OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney is the closest replacement.

Is ST-02 good for beginners?

It is a fair second deck. The rest-then-K.O. sequencing and the costly Leader untap ask more of you than a red attack deck like ST-01.
