Standard Rotated out of Standard

ST-06 is the Navy starter. The Leader, Sakazuki (ST06-001), has 5000 power and 5 Life, and once per turn you can rest 3 DON!! and trash a card from your hand to K.O. one of your opponent's Characters with a cost of 0. Every other card in the deck is a {Navy} type card, and most of them lower your opponent's costs so the Leader has a target.

The deck's 17 different cards are the Leader, 12 Characters, 3 Events and the Navy HQ Stage. All of them except Hina, which was reprinted in a later product, are block 1 cards that left Standard on April 1, 2026. You can still play ST-06 casually or in Bandai's Extra Regulation, where every card is legal except the ban list.

It suits a player who likes removal and controlling the board more than racing. If you want to keep playing Navy in Standard, the upgrade section points to the OP05-041 Sakazuki Leader and the black Navy cards that work with it.

The Sakazuki Leader (ST06-001) and every other card except Hina (ST06-008, reprinted in PRB-02) have been out of Standard since April 1, 2026.

Ratings

Strength as sold 1/5

The Sakazuki Leader (ST06-001) is rotated, so the deck cannot be played in Standard as sold. In casual play its removal works, but Jango, Fullbody, Momonga and T-Bone have no effects.

Upgraded ceiling 3/5

This rates the Standard successor, OP05-041 Sakazuki (Blue/Black, Navy), which draws a card for a discard and gives −1 cost when attacking. With budget black Navy cards such as ST19-002 Sengoku and EB02-044 Sengoku it is a coherent deck with a clear plan.

Difficulty to play 3/5

Most of your removal needs two steps: lower a Character's cost with Hina, Helmeppo, Tashigi or Sengoku, then K.O. it with the Leader, Koby or Garp. You also pay for most K.O.s by trashing a card from your hand, so you have to decide what you can afford to lose.

These are TurnZero HQ's own read of the cards, not tournament results or an official Bandai rating. How we rate starter decks →

How it plays

The deck wins by removing your opponent's Characters every turn until they run out of things to block with, then attacking with sturdy bodies like Smoker. Smoker cannot be K.O.'d by effects and gains [Double Attack] with a DON!! attached while any Character has a cost of 0.

Early on, Helmeppo gives −3 cost on play and Koby can trash a card to K.O. a Character with a cost of 0, so the two together answer a small Character on turn two or three. Tashigi can rest to give −2 cost each turn, and Navy HQ adds −1 cost on play and can rest for another −1 if your Leader is a Navy card.

From turn five, Hina (−4 cost on play), Sengoku (−4 cost when attacking) and the Leader's effect handle larger Characters, and Monkey.D.Garp can trash a card and rest to K.O. a Character with a cost of 4 or less. Shockwave is a +4000 counter that also K.O.s an active Character with a cost of 3 or less.

Tips for your first games

  • Use cost reduction before you activate the Leader: the −cost effects last only for the turn, and the Leader needs a target with a cost of exactly 0.
  • Rest Tashigi or Navy HQ for −cost before you attack, since Smoker's [Double Attack] checks whether any Character has a cost of 0.
  • Keep a card worth trashing for the Leader's effect, such as a vanilla Character you do not need to play.
  • Hold Shockwave for a turn when your opponent leaves a Character with a cost of 3 or less active, so the counter also removes it.

Budget black Navy draw and recursion

ST-06 runs out of cards because its K.O.s cost a card from your hand. These black Navy cards are all budget and fix that. ST19-002 Sengoku trashes 2 black Navy cards to draw 3 if your Leader is Navy, I'm Gonna Be a Navy Officer!!! digs 3 cards deep for a Navy card, and EB02-044 Sengoku is a 7 cost Blocker that plays a black Navy Character with a cost of 4 or less from your trash. ST19-005 Monkey.D.Garp is a Blocker that gives −1 cost each turn, ST19-001 Smoker stops 2 Characters with a cost of 4 or less from attacking, and EB01-049 T-Bone K.O.s a Character with a cost of 2 or less with a 2000 counter. All of them also work under the OP05-041 Sakazuki Leader.

More ways to reach cost 0

The Leader only hits cost 0 Characters, and the box has just a few reliable ways to get there. These black cards are not Navy, but each lowers cost or K.O.s a cost 0 Character on its own. EB01-046 Brook gives −1 cost and then K.O.s a cost 0 Character, both on play and when attacking. Three-Pace Hum Soul Notch Slash gives −4 cost or K.O.s a cost 2 or less Character, and Haute Couture Patch Work gives −3 cost and keeps a cost 0 Character rested. Dracule Mihawk draws 2, trashes 2 and gives −4 cost, and Scratchmen Apoo is a Blocker with −1 cost every turn. The cost is that cards like ST19-002 Sengoku count only black Navy cards, so do not add too many of these if you also run that package.

What to cut first

Bandai's list doesn't say how many copies of each card the deck has, so cut by card: take out every copy of these before anything else, and keep the deck at exactly 50.

Every card in ST-06

Bandai's card list for ST-06 has 17 different cards. 16 of them carry a block 1 icon or are banned, so they can't be played in Standard; they are still legal in Extra Regulation unless banned. Legality follows Bandai's block icons and its banned list effective October 12, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ST-06 legal in Standard?

No. The Sakazuki Leader and every card except Hina are block 1 cards and have been out of Standard since April 1, 2026. You can still play it casually or in Extra Regulation.

Is ST-06 good?

For casual play it has a clear removal plan and several cards that work together, like Helmeppo and Koby. It cannot be played in Standard, and four of its Characters have no effect, so it benefits from upgrades.

Is there a Standard-legal Sakazuki Leader?

Yes. OP05-041 Sakazuki is a Blue/Black Navy Leader that trashes a card to draw a card and gives −1 cost when it attacks. P-076 Sakazuki is a promo Blue/Black Navy Leader with a −1 cost effect.

Is ST-06 good for beginners?

It teaches a useful idea, lowering a cost and then removing the Character, but most turns ask you to trash cards from your hand to do it. A new player may find a deck that mostly attacks easier to start with.
