ST-20 Yellow Charlotte Katakuri

A yellow Big Mom Pirates deck whose Leader looks at the top of either player's Life before it attacks. The Leader left Standard in April 2026, so this guide covers casual and Extra play and where the five new cards fit in Standard.

Overview

Release date October 25, 2024
Colors Yellow
Leader Charlotte Katakuri
Different cards 15, plus 10 DON!!
Standard Rotated out of Standard

ST-20 is a mono-yellow Big Mom Pirates deck led by Charlotte Katakuri (OP03-099). Its 15 different cards are ten block 1 reprints from OP03 and ST-07 and five new ST20 Characters: Charlotte Katakuri, Charlotte Cracker, Charlotte Brulee, Charlotte Pudding and Charlotte Linlin.

The Leader is a Life manipulator. When it attacks with 1 DON!! attached, you look at the top card of your Life or your opponent's Life and put it on the top or bottom of that Life, and the Leader gains +1000 power for the battle. You can set up one of your own Triggers or push your opponent's Trigger to the bottom where it will not flip soon.

Katakuri is a block 1 Leader and rotated out of Standard on April 1, 2026, along with every reprint in the box. It still plays at home and under Bandai's Extra Regulation, where every card is legal except the ban list. It suits a player who likes small advantages and is willing to track Life cards closely.

The Leader OP03-099 and nine other cards (OP03-106, OP03-107, OP03-110, OP03-112, OP03-115, OP03-118, OP03-121, ST07-005, ST07-014) are block 1 and rotated on April 1, 2026; only the five ST20 cards are Standard legal.

Ratings

Strength as sold 1/5

Charlotte Katakuri (OP03-099) is a block 1 Leader, so the deck cannot be played in Standard as sold. In Extra play its Life control and Thunder Bolt give it a clear plan.

Upgraded ceiling 3/5

This rates the Standard path: the five ST20 cards under Charlotte Linlin (OP17-099), the yellow Big Mom Pirates Leader from OP17, with that set's Trigger Characters. It is a playable Big Mom deck, though not the Life-control deck in the box.

Difficulty to play 4/5

Almost every card touches Life: the Leader reorders it, Pudding and Smoothie take it into hand, Thunder Bolt trashes it, and Katakuri turns it face-up. Deciding which Life cards to keep, and whether to bury your opponent's Trigger or set up your own, is a choice every turn.

These are TurnZero HQ's own read of the cards, not tournament results or an official Bandai rating. How we rate starter decks →

How it plays

The deck wins by controlling what comes off both Life piles. Your attacks avoid your opponent's Triggers, your own Life is stacked with useful cards, and Thunder Bolt (OP03-121) trades a Life card for a K.O. on a 5 cost or less Character.

Early, Charlotte Pudding (OP03-112) looks at 4 for a Big Mom Pirates card and Charlotte Galette (OP03-107) blocks. In the midgame, Charlotte Smoothie (OP03-110) and Charlotte Daifuku (ST07-005) take Life into your hand when they attack, and Daifuku puts a card from your deck back on top of your Life. Charlotte Pudding (ST20-004) adds a Life card to hand to set a 3 cost or less Big Mom Pirates Character active again.

Late, Charlotte Linlin (ST20-005) trashes a card to make your opponent either discard 2 or lose their top Life card, and Charlotte Katakuri (ST20-001) is a 6000 power Blocker that turns a Life card face-up to give a rested DON!! to an attacker. Ikoku Sovereignty (OP03-118) gives +5000 on defense, and its Trigger can trash 2 cards from your hand to add a card from your deck to the top of your Life.

Tips for your first games

  • Use the Leader on your opponent's Life when you plan to finish them, so their next Life card is not a Trigger that stops your attack.
  • Use the Leader on your own Life when you expect to take damage, so a Trigger such as Thunder Bolt or Charlotte Brulee (ST20-003) is waiting on top.
  • Thunder Bolt (OP03-121) costs your top Life card when cast from hand, so cast it early while you have Life to spare rather than at 1 or 2 Life.
  • Charlotte Cracker (ST20-002) can trash your top Life card instead of being K.O.'d by an effect, which is a good trade when the Leader has shown you that your top Life card is not a Trigger you need.

Upgrade guide

Every upgrade below is legal in Standard and shares a color with the Leader. Prices are each card's base printing on TCGplayer on October 10, 2026; open a card for today's price.

Move the Big Mom Pirates to Charlotte Linlin (OP17-099) for Standard

No yellow Katakuri Leader is legal in Standard. The newer Katakuri Leader (OP11-062) is purple, so the yellow ST20 cards cannot join it. Charlotte Linlin (OP17-099) is a yellow Big Mom Pirates Leader: when it attacks, you trash a card and your opponent picks between you trashing another card to add a Life card and them trashing a card from hand. These cards give that Leader counters and a top end. You lose the Life reordering the old Leader gave you, so the deck becomes a hand-pressure deck.

Budget Big Mom Pirates Triggers and search

Every card here is under the budget line and works under any Big Mom Pirates Leader, including the old Katakuri in Extra. Streusen finds the pieces, and the others have Triggers or Blocker so they help when you are taking damage. Sweet 3 Generals is the best fit with the Leader's Life plan because it adds a card to your Life as well as shrinking two Characters.

Removal that runs on your Life cards

These cards turn Life into removal and card draw, which suits the Katakuri plan in Extra and a Big Mom Pirates deck in Standard. Charlotte Smoothie (EB03-051) needs a face-up Life card, which Charlotte Katakuri (ST20-001) provides. Charlotte Katakuri (OP17-103) is the expensive card in this group; the rest are cheaper.

What to cut first

Bandai's list doesn't say how many copies of each card the deck has, so cut by card: take out every copy of these before anything else, and keep the deck at exactly 50.

Every card in ST-20

Bandai's card list for ST-20 has 15 different cards. 10 of them carry a block 1 icon or are banned, so they can't be played in Standard; they are still legal in Extra Regulation unless banned. Legality follows Bandai's block icons and its banned list effective October 12, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ST-20 legal in Standard?

No. The Leader, Charlotte Katakuri (OP03-099), is a block 1 card and rotated out of Standard on April 1, 2026. Only the five ST20 Characters are still Standard legal.

Is ST-20 good?

In Extra play or casual games it is a coherent Life-control deck, with Thunder Bolt and Charlotte Linlin as its strongest cards. In Standard it cannot be played as sold.

Is there a Standard version of the ST-20 Katakuri Leader?

The only Standard-legal Katakuri Leader is OP11-062, which is purple, so the yellow cards here cannot join it. The yellow Big Mom Pirates Leader in Standard is Charlotte Linlin (OP17-099).

Is ST-20 good for beginners?

Not as a first deck. It asks you to track both players' Life cards every turn, and its Leader is no longer legal in Standard.
