ST-24 GREEN Jewelry Bonney is a mono-green starter built on the Supernovas. Its Leader is a reprint of OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney, with 5000 power and 5 Life. Once per turn, when your opponent attacks, you may rest 1 DON!! card in your cost area to rest up to 1 of your opponent's Leader or Character cards.

Resting a card that has not attacked yet stops it from attacking that turn, and because your opponent's cards only refresh at the start of their turn, it stays rested through your turn. That gives your Characters a rested target to attack. Urouge, Basil Hawkins and Kid & Killer set your DON!! active so you can pay for the Leader after spending your turn.

The box has 15 different cards, including OP07 and EB01 reprints. It suits a player who likes defensive, controlling games and thinking during the opponent's turn.

Every card in ST-24 is legal in Standard, including the OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney Leader and the OP07 and EB01 reprints.

Ratings

Strength as sold 3/5

The Leader stops a second attacker every turn, and X.Drake, Law & Bepo and four [Blocker]s support that defense, but Coribou and Caribou are a narrow pair and the deck has little card draw.

Upgraded ceiling 4/5

Green has many cheap Bonney and Supernovas cards that untap DON!! for the Leader and remove rested Characters, such as Cavendish (EB01-012) and Gum-Gum Snake Shot, which give the Leader a full plan.

Difficulty to play 3/5

You must end each turn with an active DON!! to pay for the Leader, choose what to rest on your opponent's turn, and plan attacks around rested targets.

How it plays

The deck wins by slowing your opponent's attacks and picking off rested Characters. Early, play Kid & Killer to find a Supernovas card and Scratchmen Apoo to rest a cost 2 or less Character. Keep 1 DON!! active at the end of each turn so the Leader can respond.

In the middle turns, Urouge and Basil Hawkins set a DON!! active at the end of your turn, which pays for the Leader without holding back mana. X.Drake rests a Character with a cost of 5 or less if your Leader is Supernovas, and Bartolomeo draws and trashes a card whenever your effect rests a Character on your turn.

Late, Law & Bepo rests a Character that will not become active in your opponent's next Refresh Phase, and if your opponent has 2 or more rested Characters, your Leader gains +2000 until the end of their next End Phase. Demonic Aura Nine-Sword Style Asura Demon Nine Flash adds +3000 and another rest when you need to push damage.

Tips for your first games

  • Leave at least 1 DON!! active when you end your turn, or the Leader cannot use its ability.
  • Rest a Character that has not attacked yet with the Leader, not the one already attacking, so you stop two attacks instead of one.
  • Attack the Characters your Leader rested on your opponent's turn; they are still rested on your turn.
  • Trash Kid & Killer on your opponent's attack to set a DON!! active when you need to pay for the Leader.
  • Play X.Drake or Scratchmen Apoo before Bartolomeo attacks so his draw-and-trash triggers.

Supernovas cards that untap DON!! for the Leader

The Leader spends a DON!! on your opponent's turn, so cards that set DON!! active let you use your full turn and still defend. Cavendish (EB01-012) sets up to 2 DON!! active when played and again when it attacks, as long as your Leader is Supernovas. EB03-017 Bonney sets a DON!! active, and an opposing Character with a cost of 8 or less cannot be rested until the end of your opponent's next End Phase, and the 5- and 7-cost Bonneys keep a rested opposing card from refreshing. The ST02 Bonney is a Supernovas searcher. Cavendish and the ST02 Bonney cost the most here; they replace Coribou, Caribou and Capone"Gang"Bege.

Cheap events that rest and remove

This is the budget upgrade. The Leader leaves an opposing Character rested going into your turn, and these events turn that into a K.O. Gum-Gum Snake Shot and Radio Knife K.O. rested Characters, Karmic Punishment is a counter with a rested-K.O. [Trigger], and Gum-Gum Elephant Gatling rests a Character on your turn or protects your Leader with +3000. All are cheap. They replace the 2-cost Asura event only if you want more removal than pump.

Gum-Gum Snake Shot OP13-039$0.42
Radio Knife OP10-041$0.22
Gum-Gum Elephant Gatling OP11-038$0.21
Karmic Punishment OP07-035$0.90

Sturdier blockers and a bigger top end

ST-24's [Blocker]s are small. Basil Hawkins (OP07-029) is a 7000-power [Blocker] with a Supernovas Leader and rests an opposing Character instead of leaving the field, Killer (OP01-039) is a cheap [Blocker] that can draw, and Jewelry Bonney (OP12-118) is a [Blocker] that draws 2 once you have 8 rested cards. Trafalgar Law (OP16-030) keeps a rested Character down and readies your green Characters at the end of your turn. OP12-118 Bonney is the pricey card; the rest are inexpensive.

Killer OP01-039$0.29

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ST-24 good?

ST-24 is a coherent defensive deck as sold. Its Leader rests an extra attacker every turn, and cheap green cards that untap DON!! and K.O. rested Characters improve it a lot.

Is ST-24 legal in Standard?

Yes. Every card in ST-24, including the OP07-019 Jewelry Bonney Leader, is legal in Standard.

What should I upgrade first in ST-24?

Replace Coribou, Caribou and Capone"Gang"Bege with Cavendish (EB01-012), the EB03-017 Jewelry Bonney and cheap events like Gum-Gum Snake Shot. They help pay for the Leader and punish the Characters it rests.

Is ST-24 good for beginners?

It works for a patient beginner, but it asks more than an attacking deck: you must keep a DON!! active for the Leader and decide what to rest during your opponent's turn.
