Next Destinies Set Guide

The first set with Pokémon-EX, Basic Pokémon with big HP that give up two Prize cards when Knocked Out. All six are printed twice, as a regular card and a full art, and the full-art Reshiram-EX leads the set.

Five Next Destinies chase cards fanned out: Mewtwo-EX, Zoroark, Reshiram-EX in front, Zekrom-EX and Kyurem-EX.

Overview

Release date February 8, 2012
Set code NXD
Cards 99 numbered, 103 in total
Series Black & White
Complete set as singles $2,685.44 on Oct 22
Regulation mark None, printed before regulation marks

Next Destinies is the fourth Black & White set. It introduced Pokémon-EX: Shaymin-EX, Reshiram-EX, Kyurem-EX, Zekrom-EX, Mewtwo-EX and Regigigas-EX, each a Basic Pokémon with 110 to 180 HP. Knocking one out is worth two Prize cards, so playing one is a bet that it takes more than it gives up.

Above its 99 numbered cards are four secret rares, Emboar, Chandelure, Zoroark and Hydreigon (100 to 103).

Cards and rarities

Next Destinies has 103 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/99", next to the set code NXD.

The printed total is 99, so the 4 cards from 100 to 103 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →

What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Next Destinies, bought as singles, cost $2,685.44 on October 22, 2026. That is the sixth most expensive of the twelve sets in the Black & White series.

Complete set $2,685.44
Main set, 1 to 99 $1,765.47
4 secret rares $919.97
Top three cards $1,113.62 (41%)

The three most valuable cards, Reshiram-EX, Zoroark and Zekrom-EX, come to $1,113.62, or 41% of the total. Without them the set costs $1,571.82. Of the 103 cards, 75 were under $2.00, together $41.87; the other 28 add up to $2,643.57.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

No Next Destinies card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Every card in Next Destinies is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
