Scarlet & Violet is the base set of the series that ran from 2023 to 2025. It changed the game's headline card from the Pokémon V of Sword & Shield back to Pokémon ex, and it introduced two rarities the Sword & Shield sets don't have: the Illustration Rare, a full-art scene of a regular Pokémon, and the Special Illustration Rare.

The box legendaries, Miraidon ex and Koraidon ex, lead it. Its 24 Illustration Rares are most of its chase list.

Cards and rarities

Scarlet & Violet has 258 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/198", next to the set code SVI.

The printed total is 198, so the 60 cards from 199 to 258 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →

What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Scarlet & Violet, bought as singles, cost $735.70 on October 1, 2026. That is the fifth most expensive of the six sets released in 2023.

Complete set $735.70
Main set, 001 to 198 $35.97
60 secret rares $699.73
Top three cards $164.22 (22%)

The three most valuable cards, Gardevoir ex, Drowzee and Ralts, come to $164.22, or 22% of the total. Without them the set costs $571.48. Of the 258 cards, 209 were under $2.00, together $50.97; the other 49 add up to $684.73.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

Scarlet & Violet carries the G regulation mark, which left Standard on April 10, 2026, so it is no longer Standard-legal as printed. It is legal in Expanded.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
