Star Wars: Unlimited

How to Build a Star Wars: Unlimited Deck

A Star Wars: Unlimited deck is a Leader, a Base and a main deck of at least 50 cards, with no more than 3 copies of any card. Most of the real choices come from aspects: your Leader and Base decide which cards you can play at their printed cost. This guide covers the Premier rules, a build order for a first deck, and how the TurnZero HQ deck builder checks a list.

The Premier deck rules

Premier is the standard constructed format, and these are its deck rules as of September 2026. They are also the rules TurnZero HQ checks. The publisher updates its rules, so confirm them before an organized event.

RuleWhat it meansWhy it is there
One LeaderYou start with one Leader card in play. It sits outside the main deck. The Leader's ability shapes your plan, and it supplies most of your aspects.
One BaseYou play one Base, also outside the main deck. Its printed HP is how much damage you can take. The Base is your life total, and it supplies an aspect too.
At least 50 cardsThe main deck has 50 or more cards. There is no upper limit. The minimum sets a floor on deck size. Going over 50 makes your best cards less likely to show up.
3 copies by full nameNo more than 3 cards with the same full name, title and subtitle together. It caps how often any one card can show up.
Sideboard up to 10Up to 10 cards beside the main deck, swapped in between games of a match. It lets you adjust to the opponent without rebuilding.

The Leader and Base are not counted in the 50. A deck with 50 main-deck cards, a Leader and a Base is a legal Premier deck size.

Premier also has a suspended list, cards the publisher has restricted from the format. TurnZero HQ does not model it, so a deck can read Legal in the builder and still contain a suspended card. Check the publisher's current list before an event.

Aspects change cost, not legality

There are six aspects, shown as icons on cards: Vigilance, Command, Aggression, Cunning, Heroism and Villainy. Your Leader and Base supply aspects, and a card whose aspects they cover costs its printed amount. A card with an aspect icon they don't supply is off-aspect. You can still play it, but each missing icon adds 2 resources to its cost.

Mixing aspects is allowed, and it costs tempo. One off-aspect card can be worth the extra 2 in a deck that needs its specific effect. A deck full of them plays everything a turn or two late, because you gain only about one resource a round. Reading a card's cost, aspects and traits is covered in How to Read a Star Wars: Unlimited Card.

Building your first deck

This build order works for a first deck. It tells you what to decide in which order; which cards fill each step depends on your Leader and the decks you play against.

StepWhat to do
1. Pick a LeaderStart with the Leader you want to play. Read its ability, its aspects and how it deploys, because the rest of the deck exists to support it.
2. Pick a BaseChoose a Base whose aspect fits your plan. Check its HP and its ability, since some bases have less HP in exchange for a stronger ability.
3. Fill the main deck in your aspectsChoose cards that match your Leader's and Base's aspects first, so most of your deck costs its printed amount.
4. Look at the cost spreadA deck with only expensive cards does nothing in the first rounds, and one with only cheap cards runs out of strong plays later. Aim for enough cards at each cost that you can use your resources most rounds.
5. Reach 50 and stopFill the main deck to 50 and be honest about the last few slots. Each card past 50 makes the ones you want less likely to show up.
6. Add a sideboard if you want oneUp to 10 cards for the matchups you expect. It is optional for casual play.
7. Play it and adjustA few games will show you which cards you never want to draw. Swap those out.

Twin Suns

Twin Suns is the publisher's format for more than two players, and its construction rules differ from Premier's. TurnZero HQ's Twin Suns format checks for two Leaders, at least 80 cards, one copy of each card, and no mixing of Heroism and Villainy cards. To keep score while you play one, see the damage tracker.

How the TurnZero HQ deck builder works

Star Wars: Unlimited decks are built in the Deck Lab, the same builder that Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Riftbound and Lorcana decks use. You choose Star Wars: Unlimited when you add a deck, name it, pick Premier or Twin Suns, and either start empty or paste a decklist.

✓

Search and add cards, and each one is filed in its own section: Leader, Base, main deck or sideboard

✓

A rules verdict on every screen, Legal or a count of things to fix, such as no Base, a short deck or a fourth copy

✓

A makeup lens, a cost curve lens and an aspects lens that flags off-aspect cards with the extra resources they cost

✓

Opening-hand chances, calculated from your list

✓

Cards you own and cards you're missing, checked against your collection, with the value of what's missing

✓

Recommended templates, target counts per slot that you can change for your deck

Your edits stay in a draft until you save, and the numbers you see while editing are the numbers you get after saving. The builder does not suggest cards, because deck advice is Magic only today, and it does not model the suspended list.

The owned and missing readings use the cards in your Star Wars: Unlimited collection, so scan or import what you have first. The card scanner and CSV import both fill it. Cards are matched by set code and collector number, so a Hyperspace copy and a standard copy are separate printings of the same card. Tokens are left out of the search, since they aren't deck cards.

Publishing a deck

A deck stays private until you publish it. Publishing is opt-in, from the deck's menu, and puts the list on the Star Wars: Unlimited deck gallery at turnzerohq.com. The gallery is for Star Wars: Unlimited decks only. You can also copy the decklist as text to share it elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cards are in a Star Wars: Unlimited deck?

In Premier, the main deck is at least 50 cards, not counting your Leader and Base, which start in play beside it. There is no maximum, but every card past 50 makes your best cards less likely to show up, so most decks run exactly 50. That is the rule as of September 2026; check the publisher's current rules before an event.

How many copies of a card can I play?

Up to 3 copies of a card with the same full name in Premier. The full name matters: two cards that share a first name but have different subtitles are different cards, so each gets its own 3 copies. TurnZero HQ counts copies by full name.

Can I play cards that aren't in my Leader's or Base's aspects?

Yes. An off-aspect card is legal. Each aspect icon on it that your Leader and Base don't supply adds 2 resources to its cost. TurnZero HQ shows these cards as a warning with the extra cost, not as a rule you have broken.

What is the sideboard for?

Premier lets you bring up to 10 cards beside the main deck. They aren't in your deck during a game, but you can swap them in between games of a match to answer what your opponent is playing. The builder keeps them in their own section and checks the count.

Does TurnZero HQ check the suspended list?

No. The deck builder checks size, one Leader, one Base, the sideboard limit and copies by full name. It does not model the publisher's suspended list, so check that list yourself before an event.

Does TurnZero HQ suggest cards for a Star Wars: Unlimited deck?

Not yet. Deck advice and card suggestions are Magic only today, with more games coming. For Star Wars: Unlimited, the builder checks the rules, shows lenses on the list such as the cost curve and aspects, and shows which cards you own. You choose the cards.

What is Twin Suns, and can I build one?

Twin Suns is the publisher's format for more than two players. The builder has a Twin Suns format that checks for two Leaders, at least 80 cards, one copy of each card and no mixing of Heroism and Villainy cards. Pick it when you start the deck.
