Pokémon TCG · 2021 Set Guide
The set of Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX and the Galarian legendary birds. Alternate full arts lead its value, the rainbow Blaziken VMAX (201) first.
Chilling Reign is the sixth Sword & Shield expansion: 198 cards up to the printed total and 35 secret rares above it (199 to 233), 23 Rainbow Rares and twelve Rare Secret cards.
Its Pokémon V include Galarian Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno, each printed as two full arts by different illustrators, and its VMAX include Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex. Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX's Underworld Door attaches a Psychic Energy from your hand to a Benched Psychic Pokémon and draws 2 cards.
Chilling Reign has 233 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/198", next to the set code CRE.
The printed total is 198, so the 35 cards from 199 to 233 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →
A Pokémon V gives up two Prize cards when Knocked Out, and a Pokémon VMAX, which evolves from it, gives up three. Three of this set's:
Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX
Chilling Reign #75
320 HP VMAX. Underworld Door: once during your turn, attach a Psychic Energy from your hand to one of your Benched Psychic Pokémon and draw 2 cards.
Galarian Moltres V
Chilling Reign #177
220 HP. Direflame Wings: once during your turn, attach a Darkness Energy from your discard pile to it. Aura Burn does 190 and 30 to itself.
Galarian Slowking V
Chilling Reign #179
220 HP Single Strike. Word of Ruin Knocks Out the Defending Pokémon at the end of your opponent's next turn.

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on October 22, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →
One copy of every card in Chilling Reign, bought as singles, cost $2,001.93 on October 22, 2026. That is the fourth most expensive of the seventeen sets in the Sword & Shield series.
The three most valuable cards, Blaziken VMAX, Galarian Moltres V and Snorlax, come to $760.63, or 38% of the total. Without them the set costs $1,241.30. Of the 233 cards, 157 were under $2.00, together $52.66; the other 76 add up to $1,949.27.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
Chilling Reign cards carry the D and E regulation marks, and Standard has allowed only H, I and J since April 10, 2026, so none is Standard-legal as printed, apart from its basic Energy cards. Every card in Chilling Reign is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on.
A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
