Five Evolving Skies chase cards fanned out: Rayquaza V, Rayquaza VMAX, Umbreon VMAX in front, Dragonite V and Umbreon V.

Evolving Skies is the seventh Sword & Shield expansion: 203 cards up to the printed total and 34 secret rares above it (204 to 237), 22 Rainbow Rares and twelve Rare Secret cards.

Every Eeveelution, Vaporeon to Sylveon, is printed as a Pokémon V and a Pokémon VMAX, alongside Rayquaza VMAX, Dragonite V and Duraludon VMAX. Many have alternate full arts, and those cards, numbered above the printed total as Rare Rainbow in the catalog, are where its value is: the alternate-art Umbreon VMAX and Rayquaza VMAX lead. Medicham V from this set is on the Expanded banned list.

Cards and rarities

Evolving Skies has 237 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/203", next to the set code EVS.

The printed total is 203, so the 34 cards from 204 to 237 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →

What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Evolving Skies, bought as singles, cost $8,037.18 on October 22, 2026. That is the most expensive of the seventeen sets in the Sword & Shield series.

Complete set $8,037.18
Main set, 001 to 203 $2,851.59
34 secret rares $5,185.59
Top three cards $4,075.59 (51%)

The three most valuable cards, Umbreon VMAX, Rayquaza VMAX and Dragonite V, come to $4,075.59, or 51% of the total. Without them the set costs $3,961.59. Of the 237 cards, 147 were under $2.00, together $39.30; the other 90 add up to $7,997.88.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

Evolving Skies cards carry the D and E regulation marks, and Standard has allowed only H, I and J since April 10, 2026, so none is Standard-legal as printed, apart from its basic Energy cards. Evolving Skies is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on, except for Medicham V (083/203, 185/203 and 186/203), on the Expanded banned list.

A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
