Disney Lorcana · Set 2 Starter Deck

Rise of the Floodborn Amber & Sapphire: Upgrade Guide

The Queen and Gaston lead a Snow White deck: the Seven Dwarfs, item support from Belle, and a lot of small value effects.

Three cards from the Disney Lorcana Amber & Sapphire starter deck fanned out: The Queen - Commanding Presence in front, with Gaston - Intellectual Powerhouse and Doc - Leader of the Seven Dwarfs behind.

How it plays out of the box

This deck plays a lot of small characters that help each other. The Dwarfs make one another cheaper and stronger, Belle and the items add small amounts of value, and The Queen protects your board by shrinking whatever wants to challenge it.

The plan is spread across many cards, so there are turns where nothing lines up. It has very few ways to remove an opposing character, and the Shift characters on the box need their base versions in play first.

Power
Difficulty

Lots of small synergies that rarely line up, and almost no removal.

Both numbers are TurnZero HQ's own editorial read, not an official Ravensburger rating. Power compares the deck out of the box against the other starter decks, not against a tuned tournament list. Difficulty is how much the deck asks of the person playing it.

What to cut first

Cut the items that only draw or heal once, then the Dwarfs you have only one copy of. A tribal deck needs four of its best pieces, not one of each.

A Lorcana deck needs at least 60 cards, no more than 4 copies of a card with the same full name, and at most two inks, so every card you add means one you take out. The deck building rules →

Upgrade direction 1: Heal for lore

Amber and Sapphire now have a real engine for healing: characters that gain lore or ink whenever you remove damage. Sturdy characters soak a challenge, you heal them, and the healing pays you.

It's slower than a pure questing deck, so it needs Bodyguards to keep the opponent from just ignoring your board.

Upgrade direction 2: Princesses and Queens

The Queen is a Queen, and Amber and Sapphire have the best Princess support. Cheap Princesses make the next one cheaper, and Mulan finds more of them.

Core or Infinity

As of October 2026, this deck is not legal in Core Constructed as sold, because Core uses sets 9 (Fabled) onward. A card counts as Core-legal when any printing with its full name is, so the cards from this box that were reprinted in Fabled or later can still be played there. The whole deck is legal in Infinity Constructed, which allows every set, and at any kitchen table.

Every upgrade pick on this page is from set 9 or later, so all of them are Core-legal. Core Constructed vs. Infinity →

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Rise of the Floodborn Amber and Sapphire deck worth buying?

As a way to own The Queen and Gaston in foil, yes. As a deck to play, it's one of the weaker starters, and it improves most once it has removal like Let It Go.

Can I build a Seven Dwarfs deck in Core?

Not from the box's cards, which are from set 2. A Core version follows the heal-for-lore or Princess direction above with newer cards.
