How it plays out of the box

Most of the deck costs 3 or less, so you put several Toys out quickly, and Jessie rewards that with cards. Woody finds more Toys, and Buzz and Jessie punish the opponent each time you make a cheap play.

It's built to teach the game and does that well: simple turns, a full board and steady card draw. It's fully Core-legal, so it's also a reasonable base for a real deck.

The rating: power 3, difficulty 2

Power
Difficulty

An easy, wide Toy deck with steady card draw, and fully Core-legal.

Both numbers are TurnZero HQ's own editorial read, not an official Ravensburger rating. Power compares the deck out of the box against the other starter decks, not against a tuned tournament list. Difficulty is how much the deck asks of the person playing it.

What to cut first

Cut characters that aren't Toys, then the most expensive cards. The deck works best when most of it costs 3 or less.

A Lorcana deck needs at least 60 cards, no more than 4 copies of a card with the same full name, and at most two inks, so every card you add means one you take out. The deck building rules →

Upgrade direction 1: All-in on Toys

Wilds Unknown and Attack of the Vine! printed many more Amber and Emerald Toys, including a dual-ink Woody and Buzz.

Upgrade direction 2: Protect the board

A wide board loses to sweepers and big challengers. Bodyguards and a payoff for exerted characters keep it alive and paying out.

Core or Infinity

As of October 2026, this deck is legal in Core Constructed, which uses sets 9 (Fabled) onward. It is also legal in Infinity Constructed, which allows every set. Core rotates once a year, so check a card's page before you buy into a list.

Every upgrade pick on this page is from set 9 or later, so all of them are Core-legal. Core Constructed vs. Infinity →

Frequently Asked Questions

What's in the Wilds Unknown 2-Player Starter Set?

Two ready-to-play 60-card decks (this Toy Story deck and an Incredibles deck in Amethyst and Ruby), with two foil cards per deck, two deck boxes, two lore trackers, damage tokens and a rulebook.

Which deck in the 2-Player Starter Set is easier?

We rate them the same for power and difficulty. The Toy deck is the more forgiving: it builds a wide board and draws cards, while the Incredibles deck needs a little more care about when to challenge.
