Destined Rivals Set Guide

Overview

Destined Rivals is the tenth main expansion of Scarlet & Violet and the largest of 2025, at 244 cards. It carries Journey Together's trainer's Pokémon much further: 90 of its Pokémon have a character's name, split between heroes such as Cynthia, Ethan, Marnie, Arven and Steven, and Team Rocket.

Team Rocket gets a full package: Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex, Moltres ex, Nidoking ex, Crobat ex and Persian ex, and Supporters for Giovanni, Archer, Ariana, Petrel and Proton. Ascended Heroes reprinted several of those Team Rocket's cards in January 2026.

Cards and rarities

Destined Rivals has 244 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/182", next to the set code DRI.

The printed total is 182, so the 62 cards from 183 to 244 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →

Chase cards and prices

The Special Illustration Rares lead, Team Rocket's and heroes' alike. Misty's Psyduck is the one Illustration Rare in the top eight.

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on September 30, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →

What a complete set costs

One copy of every card in Destined Rivals, bought as singles, cost $1,587.41 on September 30, 2026. That is the fourth most expensive of the seven sets released in 2025.

The three most valuable cards, Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex, Cynthia's Garchomp ex and Ethan's Ho-Oh ex, come to $754.48, or 48% of the total. Without them the set costs $832.93. Of the 244 cards, 191 were under $2.00, together $50.13; the other 53 add up to $1,537.28.

Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.

Playing it

Destined Rivals is almost entirely Standard-legal: 236 of its cards carry an I and 6 an H, both legal under the April 10, 2026 rotation. Two carry a G.

Team Rocket's cards only work together. Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex needs four Team Rocket's Pokémon in play before it can attack, so the package is a deck of its own.
