Pokémon TCG · 2025 Set Guide
The set that started the Mega Evolution series and brought back Mega Evolution. All ten of its Double Rares are Mega Evolution ex, and Mega Lucario ex leads both the table and the chase.
Mega Evolution opened the series of the same name, which every 2026 set has continued. Its headline is the Mega Evolution Pokémon ex: a Pokémon ex that gives up three Prize cards when Knocked Out, one more than a regular ex, for more HP and bigger attacks.
All ten Double Rares are Mega Evolution ex, from Mega Venusaur ex to Mega Kangaskhan ex. The set also introduced the Mega Hyper Rare, the series' gold top rarity, with two in this set.
Mega Evolution has 188 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/132", next to the set code MEG.
The printed total is 132, so the 56 cards from 133 to 188 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on September 30, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →
One copy of every card in Mega Evolution, bought as singles, cost $1,480.85 on September 30, 2026. That is the fifth most expensive of the seven sets released in 2025.
The three most valuable cards, Mega Lucario ex, Mega Gardevoir ex and Mega Lucario ex, come to $604.56, or 41% of the total. Without them the set costs $876.29. Of the 188 cards, 141 were under $2.00, together $36.82; the other 47 add up to $1,444.03.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
Almost all of Mega Evolution carries the I regulation mark, legal in Standard under the April 10, 2026 rotation.
A Mega Evolution ex is worth three Prize cards to your opponent, half of the six they need. Wally's Compassion exists to keep a damaged one alive, at the cost of its Energy.
