Pokémon TCG · 2018 Set Guide
The largest Sun & Moon set to its release, with 236 cards, seven Prism Star cards and Pokémon from the Johto region. The rainbow Lugia-GX and Mimikyu-GX lead its value.
Lost Thunder is the eighth Sun & Moon expansion: 214 cards up to the printed total and 22 secret rares above it (215 to 236).
Many of its Pokémon return to Johto, Lugia-GX, Suicune-GX and Tyranitar-GX among them, and its Supporters include Professor Elm's Lecture, Whitney and Kahili. Its seven Prism Star cards include three Stadiums, Heat Factory, Life Forest and Thunder Mountain. The two Unown on the Expanded banned list are both from this set.
Lost Thunder has 236 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/214", next to the set code LOT.
The printed total is 214, so the 22 cards from 215 to 236 are secret rares. The catalog also files four more cards under this set with a letter after the number: Electropower (172a), Net Ball (187a), Professor Elm's Lecture (188a) and Sightseer (189a). Each is an alternate printing outside the numbered set, so they aren't counted here. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →
Pokémon-GX give up two Prize cards when Knocked Out, and each has a GX attack; you can use only one GX attack in a game. Three of this set's:

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on October 22, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →
One copy of every card in Lost Thunder, bought as singles, cost $2,960.46 on October 22, 2026. That is the sixth most expensive of the sixteen sets in the Sun & Moon series.
The three most valuable cards, Lugia-GX, Mimikyu-GX and Professor Elm's Lecture, come to $868.37, or 29% of the total. Without them the set costs $2,092.09. Of the 232 cards, 147 were under $2.00, together $79.81; the other 85 add up to $2,880.65.
Four cards had no TCGplayer price on file and aren't counted: Fairy Charm Grass, Fairy Charm Psychic, Fairy Charm Fighting and Fairy Charm Dragon.
Left out: four alternate printings the catalog files under this set with a letter after the number, Electropower (172a), Net Ball (187a), Professor Elm's Lecture (188a) and Sightseer (189a). They aren't part of the numbered 236.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
No Lost Thunder card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Lost Thunder is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on, except for Unown (90/214 and 91/214), on the Expanded banned list.
A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
November 2, 2018. Its set code is LOT.
236. The printed total is 214, and the 22 cards numbered above it are secret rares.
