Pokémon TCG · 2019 Set Guide
An 18-card special set released with the Detective Pikachu film. Its cards use images from the movie and have no Pokémon-GX, so prices are low; the Charizard is its most valuable card.
Detective Pikachu came out in April 2019 alongside the film of the same name. All 18 cards are Pokémon, numbered within the printed total, and the catalog credits their images to MPC Film and Framestore, the film's visual effects studios, rather than to card illustrators.
There are no Pokémon-GX or Trainers. Four cards are Rare Ultra, Charizard, Greninja, Mewtwo and Ditto, and Detective Pikachu himself is a Rare.
Detective Pikachu has 18 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "1/18", next to the set code DET.
Every card is numbered within the printed total of 18, so Detective Pikachu has no secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →
Every card is a regular Pokémon. Three of them:
Detective Pikachu
Detective Pikachu #10
90 HP. Scout makes your opponent reveal their hand; Surprise Attack does 80 on heads.
Charizard
Detective Pikachu #5
180 HP Stage 2. Wild Tackle does 180 and 50 to itself; Slash does 70.
Ditto
Detective Pikachu #17
60 HP. Copy Anything uses one of your opponent's Pokémon's attacks, if it has the Energy for it.
Detective Pikachu's chase card is Charizard, numbered 5/18, a Rare Ultra, illustrated by Framestore, at $14.06 on October 22, 2026.
The Rare Detective Pikachu (10/18) was second at $13.82 and the Rare Ultra Ditto (17/18) third at $12.77.
Charizard is printed only once in Detective Pikachu, here.
Only the exact version is worth its price. The number at the bottom of the card and the rarity symbol beside it tell you which one you pulled. Reading the number and rarity symbol →
Prices are low across the set. Charizard and Detective Pikachu are almost level at the top.

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on October 22, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →
One copy of every card in Detective Pikachu, bought as singles, cost $77.74 on October 22, 2026. That is the least expensive of the sixteen sets in the Sun & Moon series.
The three most valuable cards, Charizard, Detective Pikachu and Ditto, come to $40.65, or 52% of the total. Without them the set costs $37.09. Of the 18 cards, 11 were under $2.00, together $10.36; the other 7 add up to $67.38.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
No Detective Pikachu card carries a regulation mark, so none is Standard-legal as printed. Standard has allowed only the H, I and J marks since April 10, 2026. Every card in Detective Pikachu is legal in Expanded, which takes every set from Black & White on.
A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so check a card's name before you rule it out.
April 5, 2019. Its set code is DET.
