Pokémon TCG · 2024 Set Guide
The shiny set. Only 91 of its 245 cards are numbered in the main set; 132 more are Shiny Pokémon, and the Mew ex Special Illustration Rare is the most valuable 2024 card in these guides.
Paldean Fates is a special set in the Scarlet & Violet series, numbered sv4pt5 in the catalog between Paradox Rift and Temporal Forces. It is the first Scarlet & Violet set with Shiny Pokémon: 120 Shiny Rares and 12 Shiny Ultra Rares, numbered 092 to 223, all above the printed total of 91.
Its main set reprints Pokémon ex players already knew, Charizard ex and Gardevoir ex among them. The shinies are what make it a collector's set.
Paldean Fates has 245 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/091", next to the set code PAF.
The printed total is 91, so the 154 cards from 092 to 245 are secret rares, more than three in five of the set. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. One copy of every card in Paldean Fates, bought as singles, cost $2,541.58 on October 1, 2026. That is the most expensive of the six sets released in 2024.
The three most valuable cards, Mew ex, Charizard ex and Gardevoir ex, come to $1,299.49, or 51% of the total. Without them the set costs $1,242.09. Of the 245 cards, 103 were under $2.00, together $31.07; the other 142 add up to $2,510.51.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
Every Paldean Fates card carries the G regulation mark, which left Standard on April 10, 2026, so the set as printed is no longer Standard-legal. It is still legal in Expanded.
A reprint with a legal mark makes older printings of the same card legal again, so a Paldean Fates card whose name has been reprinted since can still be played. Check the card's name, not just its mark.
