Pokémon TCG · 2024 Set Guide
Ancient against Future. Temporal Forces splits its headline Pokémon between the two, brought ACE SPEC cards back to the game, and has no single card that carries its value.
Temporal Forces is the fifth main expansion of Scarlet & Violet. Its theme is Ancient and Future Pokémon, the Paradox Pokémon from Paldea's past and future: 24 cards carry the Ancient tag and 24 the Future tag, and Trainers like Awakening Drum only count one side.
It is also the first Scarlet & Violet set with ACE SPEC cards, powerful Trainers limited to one per deck. It printed seven, Master Ball and Prime Catcher among them.
Temporal Forces has 218 cards. Every card shows its number over the printed total along the bottom, as in "001/162", next to the set code TEF.
The printed total is 162, so the 56 cards from 163 to 218 are secret rares. Set completion in TurnZero HQ counts a set against its printed total and keeps the secret rares apart, so finishing the main set and chasing the cards above it read as two separate goals. How set completion works →
Two Ancient and two Future Pokémon ex, each giving up two Prize cards when Knocked Out:

Ancient. Burst Roar discards your hand and draws 6; Bellowing Thunder does 70 for each Basic Energy you discard from your Pokémon.

Temporal Forces #38
Ancient, 230 HP. Blaze Blitz does 260, then can't be used again until it leaves the Active Spot.
Iron Crown ex
Temporal Forces #81
Future. Cobalt Command adds 20 damage to your other Future Pokémon's attacks; Twin Shotels does 50 to two Pokémon, ignoring Weakness, Resistance and effects.
Gengar ex
Temporal Forces #104
Gnawing Curse puts 2 damage counters on a Pokémon each time your opponent attaches an Energy to it from their hand.
Two of the seven ACE SPECs, and a Supporter with a Special Illustration Rare:
Temporal Forces' chase card is not a Pokémon ex. It is the Gastly Illustration Rare, illustrated by Mousho, at $98.01 on October 1, 2026.
No card dominates this set. The Raging Bolt ex Special Illustration Rare was second at $62.75, and the top three cards together were only 18% of the complete set's cost, the lowest share of any 2024 set.
Gastly is printed twice in the set. The Common was $0.16.

These are each card's headline TCGplayer market price on October 1, 2026. Prices can move a long way, most of all in a set's first months, so treat them as a snapshot. Each card's page shows today's price for every variant and its 90-day chart. How Pokémon card prices work →
One copy of every card in Temporal Forces, bought as singles, cost $1,207.19 on October 1, 2026. That is the third most expensive of the six sets released in 2024.
The three most valuable cards, Gastly, Raging Bolt ex and Sawsbuck, come to $216.81, or 18% of the total. Without them the set costs $990.38. Of the 218 cards, 160 were under $2.00, together $42.09; the other 58 add up to $1,165.10.
Each card is counted at its cheapest priced variant, a Normal copy rather than a Reverse Holofoil where both exist, at its TCGplayer market price. This is what it costs to buy the set as singles. It is not what opening packs returns, and not what a complete set would sell for, which after fees and the many cards worth cents would be noticeably less.
Every Temporal Forces card carries the H regulation mark, legal in Standard under the April 10, 2026 rotation, the oldest mark still in it.
The Ancient and Future tags matter more than type here. Awakening Drum and Iron Crown ex's Cobalt Command each reward one side, so these decks tend to commit to it.
