Iron Leaves ex's Rapid Vernier triggers when you play it onto your Bench: you may switch it into the Active Spot and move any amount of Energy from your other Pokémon to it. So the deck builds Grass Energy on its Bench, then drops Iron Leaves and attacks with Prism Edge for 180 that turn. Prism Edge can't be used two turns in a row.
Vileplume attaches Basic Energy from the top 8 cards of your deck when you evolve into it, which is how the Bench gets its Energy.
Partly. Iron Leaves ex (Temporal Forces) carries the H mark and is Standard legal. Vileplume, Professor Turo's Scenario and most of the rest carry the G mark and rotated on April 10, 2026.
Every upgrade card below carries an H, I or J regulation mark, the marks legal in Standard since the April 10, 2026 rotation, checked against our Pokémon card catalog on October 10, 2026. Basic Energy is always legal. See which cards are legal in each format for how regulation marks and reprints decide it.
The Iron Leaves ex Battle Deck was built to teach, so its Trainers are the gentle ones: Nemona, Youngster, Great Ball and Potion. Replacing them is the cheapest upgrade in the Pokémon TCG, since every card below is a common or uncommon, and it makes the deck faster against other precons whatever format you play. Lillie's Determination shuffles your hand away and draws 6 (8 before you take a Prize), Ultra Ball finds any Pokémon, Night Stretcher gets back a Knocked Out Pokémon or a Basic Energy, and Boss's Orders lets you choose which Pokémon you Knock Out.
Iron Leaves ex is the one ex in this product line still legal in Standard, so a second and third copy are worth buying: each one is another 180-damage attack from the Bench.

Rapid Vernier wants Energy sitting on safe Benched Pokémon. Teal Mask Ogerpon ex is the best place to keep it: Teal Dance attaches a Basic Grass Energy from your hand to itself and draws a card each turn, and it takes no damage from attacks while on your Bench. Iron Leaves then moves all that Energy across and attacks.
Iron Leaves ex is a Future Pokémon, so Future Booster Energy Capsule gives it no Retreat Cost and 20 more damage against the Active Pokémon, making Prism Edge 200.
