Disney Lorcana Ink Pairs
Emerald and Steel is one of the 15 two-ink combinations a Lorcana deck can be built in. This page covers how it plays, what it does well and badly, and the cards that show its plan, as of October 2026.
Emerald & Steel is the green-gray pair. Emerald's discard and tricks with Steel's damage removal and sturdy characters: a deck that empties the opponent's hand and controls the board.
New to the inks? The ink colors guide covers each one, and all 15 pairs are listed side by side.
Emerald attacks the opponent's hand with songs like Sudden Chill, which any character with cost 2 or more can sing for free to make each opponent discard a card. Steel brings damage actions and characters with Resist and Bodyguard. Together they can leave the opponent with few cards in hand and few characters in play.
Goliath - Clan Leader pushes that hard: at the end of each player's turn, a player with more than 2 cards in hand discards down to 2, and one with fewer draws up to 2. Rapunzel & Flynn Rider - Unlikely Pair turn your own discards into value: each quest lets you draw a card and then discard one, and during your turn, whenever you discard a character card, you may play that character from your discard by paying its cost.
Discard does little against a deck that plays out its hand quickly, and the pair has little card draw of its own beyond Rapunzel & Flynn Rider.
Strengths
Weaknesses
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it can only go in a deck built from exactly those two. As of October 2026, the Core-legal dual-ink cards are the 16 from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and one of them is in Emerald and Steel.
These show the plan described above rather than a decklist or this month's best cards: one from Emerald and one from Steel. Every card on this page is from set 9 or later and legal in Core Constructed as of October 2026.
Ravensburger has sold one starter deck in Emerald and Steel as of October 2026. Each arrives as a legal two-ink deck, and each upgrade guide says what to cut and which cards to add.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks the list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build. Decks other players have published are at Lorcana decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck, such as Rapunzel & Flynn Rider.
If Emerald and Steel is close to what you want but not quite it, these keep one of its inks and change the other.
Emerald's discard and tricks with Steel's damage removal and sturdy characters: a deck that empties the opponent's hand and controls the board. Which version is strongest changes with each set, so treat any list as a starting point.
As of October 2026, the Core-legal one is Rapunzel & Flynn Rider - Unlikely Pair, from Attack of the Vine! (set 13). A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it fits only a deck built from exactly Emerald and Steel.
Yes, one as of October 2026: Shimmering Skies Emerald & Steel Starter Deck (Infinity only). It has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.
Not in Core Constructed or Infinity, where a deck uses at most two inks. Format Coconut, Ravensburger's multiplayer format in open beta, allows up to three.
The Deck Lab checks your deck's inks, size and copies against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build, and you can publish it to share the link. Free on iPhone, Android and the web.
