Disney Lorcana Ink Pairs
Emerald and Ruby is one of the 15 two-ink combinations a Lorcana deck can be built in. This page covers how it plays, what it does well and badly, and the cards that show its plan, as of October 2026.
Emerald & Ruby is the green-red pair. Ruby's Reckless and Rush characters with Emerald's Evasive questers and tricks: an aggressive deck that damages characters and then finishes them.
New to the inks? The ink colors guide covers each one, and all 15 pairs are listed side by side.
Emerald and Ruby are both quick inks. Ruby challenges early with Rush and Reckless characters, and Emerald adds Evasive questers and abilities that punish damaged characters. The pair tends to put pressure on from the first turns and finish before the opponent's bigger cards matter.
Shere Khan - Fearsome Tiger shows how the inks work together: whenever he quests, you banish a chosen damaged opposing character, so a challenge that doesn't finish a character sets up the next quest. Gaston - Arrogant Hunter, a 2-cost character with 4 strength and Reckless, is the kind of card that deals that damage. Carl Fredricksen & Russell - Intrepid Explorers point the pair at locations instead: while they're at a location, every character there gets +1 lore and gains Evasive.
Its characters are often small and it has little healing, so a defensive deck with Bodyguard and Resist characters can slow it down.
Strengths
Weaknesses
A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it can only go in a deck built from exactly those two. As of October 2026, the Core-legal dual-ink cards are the 16 from Attack of the Vine! (set 13), and one of them is in Emerald and Ruby.
These show the plan described above rather than a decklist or this month's best cards: one from Emerald and one from Ruby. Every card on this page is from set 9 or later and legal in Core Constructed as of October 2026.
Ravensburger has sold two starter decks in Emerald and Ruby as of October 2026. Each arrives as a legal two-ink deck, and each upgrade guide says what to cut and which cards to add.
To build your own, the Lorcana deck-building guide walks through the 60-card minimum, copies and inks, and TurnZero HQ's Deck Lab checks the list against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build. Decks other players have published are at Lorcana decks, searchable by deck name or by a card in the deck, such as Carl Fredricksen & Russell.
If Emerald and Ruby is close to what you want but not quite it, these keep one of its inks and change the other.
Ruby's Reckless and Rush characters with Emerald's Evasive questers and tricks: an aggressive deck that damages characters and then finishes them. Which version is strongest changes with each set, so treat any list as a starting point.
As of October 2026, the Core-legal one is Carl Fredricksen & Russell - Intrepid Explorers, from Attack of the Vine! (set 13). A dual-ink card counts as both of its inks, so it fits only a deck built from exactly Emerald and Ruby.
Yes, two as of October 2026: The First Chapter Emerald & Ruby Starter Deck (Infinity only) and Fabled Emerald & Ruby Starter Deck (Core legal). Each has an upgrade guide on TurnZero HQ.
Not in Core Constructed or Infinity, where a deck uses at most two inks. Format Coconut, Ravensburger's multiplayer format in open beta, allows up to three.
The Deck Lab checks your deck's inks, size and copies against Core Constructed or Infinity as you build, and you can publish it to share the link. Free on iPhone, Android and the web.
